MyBB MAC Basketball Week (Final Week of the Conference Season)
EMU fans are hyping tomorrow's game @WMU as the biggest conference game in the Murphy era.

(An EMU win gives them the #4 seed as they would win a tie-breaker with WMU. EMU beat TOL for the highest value win. WMU and EMU would have split their season games).

Big game between Miami and Kent State this week as well, in regards to seeding. Kent State could still get a bye if they win out, and WMU beats EMU but loses to CMU. Not implausible.

A WMU loss to CMU, costing them a bye, might cause mattresses to burn. 03-lmfao

(or is it sofas??).

UB has been having trouble on the road so beating Akron to lock up the #1 seed is a must this Tuesday

You can play 4 vs 5 and beat Akron.

What about if both eastern and ball both lose Friday? What are seeds then?

RE: MAC Basketball Week (Final Week of the Conference Season)
Yep, I stand corrected. WMU still has a chance at a bye with a win, and will need both EMU and Ball State to lose. In this scenario, all three would be 10-8, meaning it would go by head-to-head-to-head record. WMU would then get the 3 seed, having swept Ball and splitting with EMU. The Eagles would get the 4 and BSU would be out.

Kent State would make it even more crazy in that scenario if they won.

Disregard my last post. Tie breakers are confusing.

I’m not sure I agree with the above statement about the first four seeded teams being set. If EMU wins and Ball St & WMU lose and KSU wins, Ball and KSU would be tied. I believe Kent wins that tiebreaker: they split 1-1, and KSU has a win over UB.

Now, WMU and KSU are tied for 5-6 and KSU wins that tiebreaker too.

You're right, it's still anyone's game among BSU, EMU, WMU, and KSU. Disregard my post...I just went ahead and deleted it.

KSU also wins a 3-way tiebreaker with WMU and Ball St.

I see very little likelihood though because I doubt BSU loses to NIU Friday.

Buffalo locks up #1 seed with 80-68 win over Akron. John Groce lost his mind late in the second half and got tossed..

RE: MAC Basketball Week (Final Week of the Conference Season)
In the Kent-Miami game, Nike Sibande hit a three at the buzzer in a tie game. There was a long review and they actually had to go frame by frame to see that the ball was still on his fingertips as the clock hit 0.0. Danny Pippen of Kent had a huge game with 17 points and 18 rebounds. Darrien Ringo of Miami also had a huge game with 11 assists, 6 steals, and 9 rebounds. Ringo now has 222 assists on the year, which broke the Miami season record held by Eddie Schilling ( lots of lobs for dunks to Ron Harper that year). Ringo is now in the top 5 all time single season assist leaders in the MAC and has been in the top 5 and top 10 all year in the NCAA in assists and steals.

I looked it up, Ringo is now the 4th highest all time assist season in MAC history. Ahead of him are Jaaron Simmons and two D J Cooper seasons (all recent Ohio point guards). Ringo is still 20 assists behind the third place season with one regular season game left. He would need a Miami tourney run to advance further.

Is it me, or is Miami awful in late game situations? I feel like I can think of 3 or more games they’ve thrown away at the end in which they were leading or tied in the final minute.

We have had a ton of games go down to the final possession. Miami is 3-2 in OT. In fact, our last 5 games have come down to the final possession. We were 2-3 in those. In looking back over the season, we are 5-4 in games going down to the last possession We have beaten Wright State in OT, Western Illinois in OT, and Akron in OT. We beat Fordham with a shot with 3 seconds left, and we made a bunch of free throws in the last 20 seconds to hold off Buffalo.

RE: MAC Basketball Week (Final Week of the Conference Season)
I decided to look up steals single season leaders, Bonzi Wells has the record with 103 while Ron Harper had 101. Bonzi is also 4th and 7th. Darrien Ringo now has 80, which is 13th, but Bonzi Wells is 4th at 87, so it is quite possible that Ringo will also wind up with a top 5 MAC single season steals total
