The good news is Ehsan isn’t expensive and won’t cost much to replace if it needs to happen. I see no way we don’t give him one more year though.

Our boosters were behind this hire, and what we hopefully learned is player threats to leave should not play a role in future coaching hires.

Haase turned in back to back 7-9 seasons here to start. Will be interesting to see how apathetic the Adshitistration is. If no upgrades are made on the bench we’ll know. Knowing them they’ll get rid of Big Shot Rob and keep the same assistants.

The other underlying issue is there appeared to be a limited hiring pool. Definitely didn’t want Chuck Person or Steve Lavin. I’d certainly give Andy a call.

RE: MTSU THREAD
Those who suggested that an older, more experienced defensive expert assistant coach be brought in described T.R. Dunn exactly. He is that and available according to one post. He may be the state's only basketball player to have made a career living in the NBA as player and then as coach. That could help recruiting.

Yes, easy to forget just how bad the other choices were (there was also some NBA player who thought coaching might be fun). With the savage beating we gave Carr & Associates over their fraudulent report, have search firms blacklisted UAB?

I'd hope that the search firms realize that Carr & Associates were paid for a hit job. I'd like to see us make a change and possibly go after Andy Kennedy. Haase may have had a couple of subpar years initially but consider what he inherited. Ehsan inherited a team that was running the table in the conference and was a year removed from a big NCAA tourney upset.

RE: MTSU THREAD
Nine days from now, the first round game of the Conference Tournament.

Stats were lopsided, tonight.

UAB was 1-17 from three point range.

MTSU was 11-27 from three point range.

MTSU had 7 turnovers. UAB scored 6 points off of MTSU's 7 turnovers.

UAB had 16 turnovers. MTSU scored 28 points off of UAB's 16 turnovers.

MTSU had 16 assists. UAB had 9 assists.

UAB missed 10 free throws.

MTSU had 9 steals.

OUCH!

We dribbled a lot! Way too much dribbling!

Gueye played 22 minutes, the most he has played in one game all year. He is restricted to setting a lot of high picks, I noticed, in the offensive sets.

RE: MTSU THREAD
With regard to Andy Kennedy, my feeling is that he will relax for a while, maybe a year, and see what P5 programs come calling or some TV opportunity like Tom Crean is doing. Having already coached with some success at the P5 level, he is almost certain to try to stay there unless after a year or two the only nibbles he gets are G5 programs. He has seen what is happening to Tubby Smith at Memphis and it may make him even more cautious about dropping down to G5 right away. I believe UAB can write off Andy for a couple of years at least.

I hope our team is resilient, and wins their way to the final game of the conference tournament. This season is not over, by any means.

The UAB athletic department was looking in the wrong direction last time...an assistant at a big program that's ready to spread his wings or an established HC at a "smaller" school is the way to go (this time and most every time)...the longer the current coaching regime is in power the weaker and less attractive our job opening becomes...

That could be. Fumbles spun it to us that he didn't need a search committee.

Rob isn't going to be fired for season in which he can do no worse than 17-15. He'll have to make changes before next year and improvements during next season.

Turnovers are killing us. Shooters aren't hitting anything. Wings aren't closing on shooters. We only have 2 bigs willing or able to mix it up, one is badly hurt and the other is a foul a minute.

And our best all around player is doing his very best Jack Gordon imitation.

If I were coaching, after Potts hit his second 3, he wouldn't be able to take a p!ss at halftime with having to get around Perry or Bryant.

Secondly, WTF ever we were doing when we were hitting free throws would have restarted tonight when we returned to Birmingham.

3rd - start Perry & Lewis, sit Bryant and Darling. Move Haha to the 3. As soon as the offense bogs down run Bryant and Darling in together for 2 of the two bigs and clear the lane for Bryant.

4th- keep recruiting bigs. We aren't controlling the paint. We are one deep in the post, and Gueye isn't the answer, unless he starts taking roids.

5th - maybe this should be 1st - scout yourself. As bad as we played, it was Kermit out coaching us. If Bryant has the ball at a screen, step out and close if you're on D, he'll cough it up. Heck Walters took the ball from him. Put Darling on the deck and he'll stay out of the lane and miss all night. Same for Haha. Cokley relishes contact because he's faster than you, so arm bar and step back and make him cover more ground, because he can't jump. Nick lacks lateral quickness after his injury so just stay in front of him.

I never thought Walters would amount to anything, and he beat us tonight. We couldn't get anything going in the lane, because he was controlling the paint. King and Potts are probably going to get theirs. We couldn't account for the rest of them and couldn't get anything in the lane.

And, please take Cokley to a Chiropractor, Massage therapist, Yoga class, an Acupuncturist or what ever works.

Looks like we are still the sixth seed. North Texas and La Tech lost as well. It also looks like 6th is the best we can do. We are two games out of fifth place and even if we win two and UTSA loses two, they have the tie breaker.

So we could be lower seeded with more losses, but can't improve on what we have.

There are always good coaches out there that are interested. It's just a matter of having sense enough to locate them. Steve Forbes is really good, and he was interested the last time. We got the People's Choice though, so all is well!!!

Where did you get that Forbes was interested? When we were hiring last time he was under a show cause. And his next job is going to a bigger job than UAB

I'd be fine with them firing Ehsan after this season. With the talent ad experience level he inherited, these results are an abject failure. I'll say it again, that's the worst performance I've seen uab put up in 15 years as a fan. We looked like a high school squad. Totally outclassed on every level.
