RE: MBB @ EMU
Assume Monty's 2018-19 schedule will include continuing to play at home versus Rockford, Eureka, Roosevelt, Chicago State, and Judson, but what others are under consideration?

Rematches with IU-Northwest, Olivet Nazarene, UI-Springfield, Aurora, Hampton?

Perhaps call South Carolina Upstate, Sacramento State, Maine, Binghamton, Alabama A&M, Longwood, Presbyterian, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Delaware State?

Or gamble on catching UC-Riverside, CS-Northridge, VMI, UT-Chattanooga, Dartmouth, Detroit, Morehead State, Arkansas-Little Rock, South Florida, or Marist on an off-day?

Considering losses to B1G basement Iowa (thumped by 23 / 98-75), or Big XII cellar-dweller Iowa State (a 14-point loss / 94-80), perhaps we can pick up paychecks from somewhere new, ACC, PAC-12, or SEC?

What about the current Northern Kentucky coach?

Sean Miller will be available very soon. At least we are losing the right way.

We had 5 assists this time, better than the 3 we had last game.

I am still amazed Dawkin's kid did not send some recruits our way. The old man probably told him to get out of DeKalb and work with guy in Arizona.

I am holding out for L'Universite Laval. For that re-match, I want a game T-shirt.

Did not watch nor listened to the game...I feel better for that

I have decided that I have come to expect this kind of season and eagerly await football before I get excited about NIU sports again,,,

I Just don't see how we can fire him because of the finances and honestly one more year of this will basically be The same thing we've been watching the last 10 years of niu basketball. We can't afford the be paying two head basketball coaches.

5 FREAKING ASSISTS!
5!

Pathetic.

Postgame was exactly as someone stated. He keeps going to the “scouting report”comment. At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt but OBVIOUSLY either the players don’t give a rats ass or his coaching staff are idiots.

Because he’s a good man I’ll keep rooting for Monty and his team to succeed. I still can’t stand JB and others on his staff. Hope the kids pull their heads out.

Give me the Loyola coach.
Never mind - no way we can afford him.
Any hot Chicago coaches worth hiring?

NIU is now 348/351 in assists per game...and it seems like the coaches/players have really focused on improving that as the season has gone on. You know, that good ball movement stuff? Multiple passes per possession and never standing still? Really huge gains there in season 7 of Montyball

It will end up being another assistant from big 10....what about Dane Fife?

I know he was in the mix at Bradley a few years back...

Fife played at either Indiana or Michigan. I was at the game and it was as bad as everyone has indicated. In reference to the "scouting report" comment early in the game, an EMU player drove to the right along the baseline and the defender didn't get over quick enough to stop him and was called for a foul. Monty starts yelling about the scouting report that says the EMU guy only drives to his right and our defender hadn't overplayed him to that side. Heard scouting report several more times during the game.

We all know if a player is right handed, he will probably power drive with the first dribble to his right. You do not need a scouting report tell you this. Every coach from grade school on will instruct you how to defend the power hand. Our guys just lack basketball common sense.

The basketball ball IQ on the team is extremely low! Huskies have German, Thorpe and Bradley that could start on any MAC team. Next year you can add Jaylen Key to that list. They need one more guy like that and they need to make more threes.

ANd how is that going to help them move the ball and actually run some sort of offense? If this was year 3 or 4 most excuses could work, but 7th year and best seasons was .500 in the crappy MAC, it’s time for something new. Can’t get much worse at this point.

Huskiepride12, currently NIU has the 3rd highest field goal and free throw shooting% in the MAC games. Key will help because he has played in a lot of games and he can score and that helps the offense. They also rank high in not turning the ball over.

RE: MBB @ EMU
Next year German will be the top candidate for MAC player of the year. Bradley will be a first team no worse than second team all-Mac. Thorpe will be a 14pt a game guy and Key will be a double digit scorer. I don’t believe that they will blow this up and start all over at this point. I fully expect NIU to win Tuesday and Friday night and then lose a road MAC tourney game and Monty to still be the coach.

All this for next year, and it will be a miracle to reach .500.
