Please this argument of a lower level coach passing on a massive pay day because of fit is the silliest on message boards. Most of the people that say this nonsense would move across the country for a 10K raise at a new job.
Again he will walk to Athens for 2M+ vs the peanuts Sun Belt coaches make. What is he 500K at GaSt, give me a break. You go from doing very well to generational wealth. I heard the interview he did not say no he just said it would not be appropriate to talk about another job. If the answer was no he would have just said no nothing to lose if you have zero interest.
You know what makes a job a good fit every time for a coach getting a 1M+ pay raise much less 1.5M+

Ron Hunter has already earned millions. His son is a NBA player who is a millionaire by his own right. They already have the "generational wealth". Why go to UGA where careers die

RJ's original guaranteed contract was $1.87M for two years, so that's what he had in the back without taxes or agent fees deducted. After his first year with the Celtics, he's predominately been a G-league player. This year has some two-way contracts for G-league players and pays substantially more than the older versions, but if they stay in the G-league the whole year it's about $75K. If you get called up to the NBA club you get a pro-rated percentage of the rookie wage scale with is about $800K with a maximum 45 days which equals out to about $200K. If you play the maximum time in the NBA and the rest of the year in the G-league you'll make about $279K for the year without taxes or agent fees deducted.

10% to agent at least 40% to Uncle Sam. This is why taking a job that pays more in one contract than your entire career always makes a good fit for any coach. I love how fans convince themselves that their coach is not going to put his family first or turn down a triple or quadruple pay raise. It's hilarious. We are not talking about going from 500K to 750K. If Hunter went to uga I doubt he would get less than 1.5M and taking over where expectations are low he is going if offered.

My point is that, considering his age, current wealth, and legacy, I doubt (I'm not predicting the future here...merely expressing my doubt) he will take another rebuild job before retirement. The expectation at UGA is low? then why is Mark Fox on the hot seat. I see it something similar to...Paul Johnson leaving GT now to coach at some mediocre SEC teams like South Carolina or Kentucky. Could he take the additional millions and go have a mediocre record? sure. But he is old and leaving a brand/legacy at GT. Hard to imagine Johnson going for another job before retirement.
who knows my friend. If CRH leaves, I wouldn't blame him, GSU would hire another coach, and the life will go on. But I have my doubts that CRH will leave at this point of his coaching career. If he was truly hungry for a bigger paycheck, he could've left 2 years ago when bigger programs were calling and his son left GSU...but he chose not to. Now, if you say Shawn Elliott will leave for P5 and more money, heck yeah I agree with you. GSU is not the last stop for CSE. I'm not a delusional fan who believes that our coaches love GSU and will never leave. I'm talking about CRH's situation specifically.

RE: Ron Hunter on Atlanta Radio
Anything can happen but there ARE coaches who have found the perfect situation for them and their family. I liken CRH's situation to Bill Clark at UAB. Now some big SEC program could come calling for either or both with a five or six fold increase they cannot refuse. But these are not coaches looking for the next job. They have found the near perfect situations for their family and themselves, One thing you have to remember is that Hunter spent 17 years at IUPUI. He could have left for a better job at any point. He has said it himself that he is an urban campus coach, Sometimes the short payday isnt the best answer. Howard Schnellenberger talks about how he let his perfect job at The U for a quick payday from the USFL and how it didn't pan out as expected. Yeah you have the cash but the perfect job is gone.I think much like Bill Clark, Ron Hunter drives to work with a giant smile daily. Now if we are talking head football coach, I would be shocked if Shawn Elliott is our coach in 2020. Not because he does not like GSU but because I don't think he intends to retire here.

Agent doesn’t get 10 percent. Usually about 4 percent.

I think he was picked up on a 22 day G-league contract which has a structured salary base. The maximum listed for that process is what I originally posted. A lot of agents don't like the two-way contracts as the player isn't guaranteed an amount of games with the NBA club but is locked into to the G-league team for the entire year.

Every once in a while, Ron Hunter makes it hard to dislike him.
300k view? that is awesome.
Ron Hunter is a good dude and a great coach. His bravado may rub some people the wrong way, but his swagger is part of our success. ex.)bonding with recruits, motivating players, getting GSU brand out there, winning over the media, etc.
