Cronin's sideline demeanor
From what I've seen he has turned into a raging lunatic on the sideline that is incapable of teaching without screaming at a player or assistant. When was the last time he provided encouragement or even looked to commend a player for their play? Mick has always been a screamer but I think it's reached an alarming level these past few games.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I knew when Cronin attended the " brian Kelly coaching demeanor camp" last summer that this would happen.

Yes, but not just the past few games. The guy I go to games with and I have been discussing this for quite a while. My 92 year old mother who watches on TV even asked why Mick acts like this.

3 Ohio Coaches. Probably going to Holtmann or Pearl

Absolutely. It gets old, and is rather embarrassing. I wish the NCAA or Big 12 would have set an example out of Hugg's tirade and suspended him a few games for his pathetic behavior. Is that what sports is really about?

Mick's a good guy, but I wonder him his bench demeanor is playing any part in this lackluster recruiting cycle - how many kids want to play for a guy like that.

Lastly about Mick, I find it amusing when posters are critical over fellow critical posters - did I say that correctly? I mean, if Mick is still yelling in a 30 pt blowout over a cupcake, can message board types maturely address our concerns with the team?

I'd wager Holtmann or (shudder) Mack. Can't give the award to a guy with the Feds at the door.

RE: Cronin's sideline demeanor
I have found interesting that during every game we play on TV, at one point they put Mick on camera in a separate box and shrink the game to a smaller screen so we can watch Mick rant.

Reminds me of the early Huggins days.

Yes.

And he even got a technical foul when UC was up by 25 last night.

If you watch the players though it looks like they ignore him most of the time.

It reminds me of this Far Side cartoon:

seemed like a really odd thing to do at the end of that game. i dont know if it was at the ref or maybe a fan shouted something.

I was under the impression that OSU was a hot mess that needed 2-3 years to turn around, guess not.

RE: Cronin's sideline demeanor
So, in addition to being pissy about our conference, schedule, lack of quality wins, etc., this year we are now complaining about Mick's sideline demeanor? Are you guys for real? Surely this is trolling by some. Did anyone hear Seth Greenberg's comments last night about Mick? He's trying to keep his team focused and energized when everyone, yes all teams, are hitting the end of the season wall - dudes are tired both physically, mentally and beaten up/nagging injuries. It's a grind. Players know what they signed up for if they want to play at Cincinnati. Ask Gary Clark. He almost wanted to quit until he understood that Mick pushes the players to get the best out of them for themselves first and the team second. The only issue I've had with Mick was his reaction to Macu-douche at the end of the Ex game.

If you have to act like Mick acts during the entire game, then his message is not getting through to the players during the practices.

Do you agree with that?

My initial reaction is not to respond to a troll with less than 100 posts. How do you know if Mick gets through to his players or not? Are you in the locker room before, at the half and after games? Are you on the sideline sitting in a chair listening to conversations? How about in the huddle during timeouts? Practices? Off season? Has anyone left the team? Get the eff outta here with that crap!

I think that last point is extremely fair. UC has has very few guys transfer out under Cronin. Who was the last one? Jermaine Lawrence after Caupain's freshman year?

But I do think his screaming has reached an entirely different level recently. Gary Clark even make a comment in an article on The Athletic that his advice to the young guys is don't even look at Cronin when you make a mistake because his screaming will throw you off your game.

I've been on this board long enough to demonstrate I'm not a troll but I have had the thought that playing tight (and not to lose) in big games could be a byproduct of his sideline demeanor...

His team just lost back to back games in lackluster performances against the cream if the crop in the league. If you listened to the post game he isnt happy with the team and you can bet he knows this is his best shot in a long time and he is feeling the pressure too. He has to do what he has to do and I just don’t get the arm chair criticism.
