Add this to the “cold hotdog” complaints:

In honor of fan appreciation day, I wish they would play OCMS’s Wagon Wheel as the final canned music song (pregame) right before the band plays to welcome the Bucs. I used to enjoy walking out of Freedom after a win with “Johnson City, TN” echoing in the arena.

Ok......after much thought.....my theory is that they didn't know if Bradford would be ready or not, so they wanted Obi-Rapu to be better able to channel his inner Obi-Wan Kenobi. I'm sure that's it.

I think the local Star Wars "stormtrooper reenactors" wanted to promote themselves maybe? And from there it snowballed into a way to get more folks at the game to meet them after?

RE: Official Game Thread: Wofford
It’s the best 3 point shooting percentage in the SoCon and 4th in the country (Wofford’s .404 with 170 makes) versus the best 3 point defense in the SoCon and 37th in the country (ETSU with .315). The Bucs defense did the job last time, holding Wofford to 8-25 32% from 3. When the Terriers make less than 10 3's, they are 1-5 in conference.

It's a completely different test for the Bucs than last game. Citadel had strong athletic guards in 6-6 Allende and 6-4 225 Kaelon Harris that penetrated effectively and scored or dished off to Zane Najdawi. That set up their 3 point shooting. Wofford’s guards are less athletic and don’t penetrate as effectively, but their 3 point shooters are far stronger, especially Magee (.449 with a 1st in the country 129 makes), Stumpe (.443 with 43 makes), Hoover (.401 with 57 makes) and Murphy (.398 with 33 makes). The Bucs have a deeper bench (Wofford has been relying heavily on about 6 guys down the stretch) and may want to try to keep the pace up and wear those shooter's legs down by the end.

It’s also a different test for the Bucs than the first Wofford game for one big 6-8 245 pound reason – Rs-Jr Cam Jackson is back (with 11.1 points on .582 shooting and 5.7 rebounds). He missed the first ETSU game on concussion protocol. He’s the kind of athletic, physical body that gives the Bucs problems – faster than Armus or Jurkin and much bigger than Burrell or Hodges. Go at him and try to get fouls - his subs, the pedestrian Matt Pegram and freshman Keve Aluma, are not nearly as effective. Jackson makes the Terriers a decent rebounding team with a +2.4 rebounding margin. That still leaves them significantly behind ETSU, which is essentially tied for the lead in conference with Mercer and UNCG at +6.9.

Despite a couple of weak games from 3 (Citadel and UNCG), the Bucs remain tied with Samford for 2nd in the SoCon at .383 from 3. If the Bucs get their stroke back tonight they will be a load for Wofford to handle. If not, we’d best be prepared to grind one out, showing the kind of defense that has been this team’s trademark, keeping a rebounding edge and taking advantage of our size inside. Desonta and McCloud can penetrate against these guys, although Jackson is a better help defender at the basket than they had last time. Watch out for Wofford at the end, who can really close out a game with a .785 free throw percentage and patient, well coached play down the stretch. This time of year the Bucs can’t afford free throw shooting as they did against Citadel (8-15 for 53%) or UNCG (11-18 for 61%).

May the force be with us. (Hey, I didn’t choose the promotion).

They should play the rag doll music video from Aerosmith on the Jumbotron and show the scenes where they are all at freedom hall and Steven Tyler is driving down the tree streets.

ETSU held the “ETSU Con” event last weekend for art, sci fi, and anime. I believe the fully functional R2D2 and other costumes are coming from that event. Kids love this stuff. Probably just an easy thing to pull off tonight.

That's kinda what I (really) think, too - which speaks very poorly of ETSU's marketing dept. - imo.

Just another "throw-stuff-against-the-wall-and-hope-some-of-it-sticks" idea - again, imo. And again, about as much relevance as the Grand Canyon or St. Patrick's Day, etc.

You know what else we stole? Free chick-fil-a on missed free throws. I'm not a star wars fan, but I know there are tons of fans of it. I have a friend at work that is going JUST because of Star Wars night (he was originally coming Sunday). The game is going to sell out, obviously it's not a complete dud. Don't understand why everything has to be a crisis.

Well, yes, I know about the stealing of the Chick Fil-A promo. And the tic-tac-toe thing, too. We've discussed that (the Chick Fil-A thing) on here before. But that (sort of) gives fans something tangible. Not sure what you mean with the "crisis" comment.

I *guess* I can understand trying to "attract new fans", but (imo) that's not a good way to do it. Look at what's happened to baseball (at Cardinal Park, for example)..... The culture has become "entertainment" instead of the sport itself. I know, I know....."kids these days", etc. I'm just a purist, and believe the 'product' speaks for itself. (And I *told* you kids to get off my lawn!!)

I dunno, I love the idea. We are a pretty geeky family and it excited most of us. My daughter's boyfriend is SUPER excited, but he's a total nerd about Star Wars. I think it's getting people there that may have interest in the team and basketball, but never thought about actually attending a game.

I see the usual Whinners and Negative Nellies are at it again.Thankfully none of you have any official capacity to make any decisions regarding ETSU.

My kids are super excited about the Star War's promotion. My next door neighbors whole family ( 6 people buying tickets ) are coming to their first game tonight. Just maybe there are other first timers coming to the game because of the promotion and maybe they will enjoy themselves to the point they become regulars.

Kudos to the marketing dept.

According to ETSU Athletics, less than 250 tickets remain for tonight’s game.

Some of these charges are legit. Burrell needs to learn to keep his head up when attacking the basket. That one on McCloud was bad though.

Why would you call a time out... to let them set up a play?

It was the use it or lose it timeout. They tried to setup a 1-3-1 trap. Mike did a good job of expecting it and drew up the perfect play to beat the 1-3-1.
