I blame the loss of Stuckey's headband... oh yeah and the reffing was like the worst joke in the world.

RE: Hofstra @ JMU Hoops
A Hofstra player drives to the basket. He leaves his feet, loses the ball in mid-air while punching Phillips in the mouth then falls to the ground. The ref is so short that all he sees is the player going to the ground because Phillips back is to the ref so the ref is blocked out. Somehow this play turns into a foul on Phillips.

JMU would have lost either way but the officiating sucked.

RE: Hofstra @ JMU Hoops
I told my much better half driving over last night that I expected a slow start by the Good Guys thinking the change of personnel on Senior Night starting the game might affect what we've been doing (positively) of late. Well, I don't know if that had an affect or not, but I doubt it helped. The entire first 15 minutes of the game was weird. It started late. There were multiple (lengthy) stops in play early in the game for various reasons I'm still unclear about. Maybe Curt or Dave mentioned what was going on. I still don't know. We never could get into any kind of rhythm.

I debated on the way home whether I'd rather lose by 20+ and never much really in striking distance throughout or lose like we have so many times this season (games we threw away late). It's a loss either way I know. Bummer. Very disappointed in the performance last night. Hopefully the guys can pick themselves up and finish strong.

I took some time looking at the various tie breakers. The chances now of the Dukes staying out of the Keener Invitational are near zero. It's just a matter now as to whether we will be the 7, 8, 9 or 10 seed. UNCW plays at Drexel Saturday. One of them will wind up 7-11 and each of them have tie breaker advantages over JMU...and that is if JMU were to win our last 2 games just to get to a tie with them. Elon could also get into that discussion for the 6-seed if they defeat NE (and JMU), but can't see Elon doing that the way they've been playing.

There is a decent chance that there will be 4 teams tied for 7th place at 6-10. In that scenario, the tie breakers work out like this... 7 Delaware, 8 UNCW, 9 JMU and 10 Elon. This assumes decent chances of the following games taking place in what's left: UNCW loses at Drexel, NE wins at Elon, JMU loses at Delaware, and then JMU wins at Elon.

Tied our largest loss of the year. This team never disappoints in disappointing me. I lose hope, then think we may be good and then they remind me how stupid I was in believing in them.
This senior class should be leading this team, but it feels like they're holding this team back.

RE: Hofstra @ JMU Hoops
I look forward to the next recruiting class and an upgrade from this Senior class. From all accounts they a good people so I wish them well. I am just ready to see some winning basketball and guys who after playing four years in college actually improve each year. Joey gives it his all. He is just undersized or out quicked by whoever he guards. Snowden just lacks the engine and effort imo. He has the size to play the four in the CAA.

Hofstra won at Northeastern (whose only other home loss was to Charleston), Towson (who lost 4 home games but was on a 14 game home winning streak before hosting Hofstra), and Rider (who won their last 12 home games not against Hofstra and has a better RPI than Charleston). It wasn't a bad loss for you.

Yes, it was. We were at home. Came in playing our best ball of the season. And, against a team we should have beaten on their/your home court. The final margin wasn't indicative of how "bad" it was. I don't think anybody is saying Hofstra is a bad team. It appears from your commentary that you are trying to boost up how good Hofstra is by listing other good wins. The fact remains the difference between the top of the CAA and the bottom is razor thin as has been seen many many times over the season. When you open as a 1.5 point underdog and are down by 20+ with a couple of minutes left in the game...yeah, that's a bad loss. It isn't like Hofstra was expected to win by 15+.
