Could strongly suggest Tubby do this by adding Penny as the top assistant and in return he gets to keep his other 2...or he can resign. Penny would have the assurance of a head coaching job while getting to see what that entails

That would be like asking Lawler to push the next big local star on his promotion that will take over after he retires. You saw how much talent left the territory because Lawler blocked their advancement to the top.

Orlando is still around for one reason to protect Saul and try to get him a job. He is not going to help promote someone other than his son to take over his position. If he would then Keelon would still be on his staff as a bench coach.

However, for me a bad coaching tenure will do nothing to tarnish his contributions to the Tigers and the City of Memphis.

What would a good to great coaching tenure do?

We see countless posts about the possibility of Penny failing, yet we don’t see any posts on the possibility of Penny being a smashing success. What if he leads us to multiple league championships, multiple conference tournament championships, and deep runs in the NCAA tournament?

Actually I think it is a foregone consensus he will do just that. Also I think we as the demanding fans will have a bit more patience as Penny is U of M and not a hired gun. Penny is a winner. Plain and simple.

Obviously, a successful run will shift his position on the Tiger pantheon.

Tiger fans have strong positive emotions about Penny. We have to carefully guard against assuming Penny will be a savior on the sidelines as he was in games.

This is my reason for wanting him now.

I can't do another year or more of that old, crotchety, lying ass Tubby.

At least when Penny says we want to win, you can believe it.

He will do his best for his alma mater and his hometown.

If I was the one pulling the trigger, I would not wait until the season is over.

Why? Isn’t that what everyone here is looking for? Save us, and save me right f’ing now!

He may be successful or might be a complete dud. If Lomax and Wiseman say they’ll definitely follow him, it might be worth a shot. If not, why take another chance on unproven coach? We’ve been there before.

This isn’t going to happen anyway.

I have said in one of these threads, I think the conversation between Penny and the people who make that decision has happened. Either way nothing will be disclosed before season's end. Gotta stay a class act.

Well I'd accept Forbes or any number of other coaches. Just make a change from Tubby and the assistants who can't recruit and he won't replace. Do something cause Tubby ain't.
