RE: Football Season Ticket Holders Exclusive - NIU Football's Stories from the Sidelines
When I arrived they didn't have a placecard for me, I wasn't even on their list. I did check my credit card bill and the charge was on there. But I ended up sitting at Carey's table up front. Didn't know anyone there though, except Brad Hoey whom I had met a couple other times, he was busy talking to lots of people though - and also those 2 brothers that are always at those events - but I don't know them very well, just to say 'hi'. The event was similar to other signing day events - I thought they were going to have a silent auction but didn't see that anywhere. They seemed pretty happy about the signing class, though they always appear that way. They have quite a bit appetizer-type food and desserts, though I didn't eat much of it.

They had a couple of recruits on stage, with Bill Baker sitting on a stool asking them questions, then they had current players up there, then they add Diem, TLL, and Golladay up there. It ended up going overtime, until around 5:30, to get through everything.

How did it compare to the signing day at the winery?

This was my first time at a signing event. I really enjoyed it. I disagree with posters saying the NIU admin and coaches weren't receptive. I prefer to hang low but we had many approach us and thank us for coming, including Coach Carey. I would go back for sure...the auditorium inside Altgeld is pretty impressive too. I really enjoyed the recruiting run-downs by Uremovich and Knowles. The individual stories were intersting. The current players there....Pugh, Scharping, DJ Brown and especially an intense Sutton Smith seem ready to go.

Pretty sure Carey said the spring game was pushed to April 28 this year so they could get outside more.

That's my feeling too. And yes he said the 28th so we have a better chance at good weather.

Looking forward to having Pugh back. He was having a great season. No Childers? Any update on Tears?

Is Sunday that much worse than a Saturday? You can easily drive the 90 miles each way and be back at a reasonable time.

Yeah, I agree. I get it that it can be a burden to fight traffic on a weekday, but Sunday is the easiest day for travel pretty much everywhere. Dog Fan is just complaining for the sake of complaining on this one

I came 65 miles and Anne Glidden and other roads had some pretty good size drifts across the roadway in spots. A lot more treacherous than I expected because of the wind.

No, sorry. They originally had it scheduled later, which was stupid. They then moved it up a couple hours which made it much better.
