STARKVILLE — Andy Cannizaro is expected to be out as Mississippi State’s baseball coach after just three games into his second season, according to multiple reports.

The school hasn’t confirmed the dismissal, but it is expected to happen on Tuesday morning. 247Sports.com first reported the story, and WCBI has confirmed it.

Cannizaro, 39, was introduced on Nov. 5, 2016, the same day John Cohen officially took over as MSU’s athletic director. Cannizaro led the Bulldogs to a super regional last season. Before joining MSU, Cannizaro was LSU’s hitting coach and recruiting director for two years.

Since this apparently had been going on for a while it makes you wonder if State would’ve let it continue (the head coaching thing, not the side chick thing) had they beaten us. The timing definitely makes it look petty IMO.

Her picture is missing (the name is still there though) from the staff directory on the Florida athletic website. Wonder if that happened last night after the news broke or was it never there to begin with...hmmm

At the same time, he’s a fairly young D1 coach. I just assume that’s happening.

There’s got to be more to this story than the affair. No major college coach gets fired for an affair.
