Zach is a Sophomore RHP who pitched in relief last year with 13 trips to the mound, finishing with a 4.72 ERA and a 0-0 record in 13.1 innings pitched. Given the standard improvement from Freshman to Sophomore years, it is safe to say that Zach is a "proven pitcher".

The Texas State web page says that Dane Acker will start for Rice. Dane still has a lot to prove at Rice.

I thought Dane looked pretty good on Friday, once he got control of his nerves. He's a strike thrower, and I was especially impressed with his change up. He reminds me of a right-handed Bobby Bramhall. The OG is sky high on the kid. I think we'll see some combination of Tyner, Lewis and Bordwine tomorrow. Perfect time to let them get their feet wet.

I hope "wet" is not the operative word. I'd say the weather is questionable for tomorrow.

If it's Dom C., he must have done in transit back to Houston, since he caught the 8th inning fine, and had his best AB of the season so far in the top of the 9th....and he didn't have to do any sliding once he got on base (unfortunately for us).

Dominick Cox is more likely, especially since Frazier pinch hit for him in the 8th. It would still be a loss as I thought he played much better than Weyler-- both the field and at the plate. Perhaps, we give Dulac an opportunity.
