Fergie sang the National Anthem tonight at the NBA All Star Game. I wouldn't say it was Roseanne Barr or Carl Lewis bad, but it was pretty brutal. I can't find a you tube video of it yet, but it's going to be making the viral rounds shortly.

It was so bad the NBA players were laughing at her during it - but to their credit they were standing the whole time.

She tried to make it into some kind of sultry cabaret song.

At least she hit some of the good parts.

A much better take on the Anthem from an NBA All Star Game (Marvin Gaye - 1983). The problem with the Fergie version is that genre is not the style of music she's known for, so when she sings it as a torch song, it's a bit of a parody. Gaye sang all his songs like that so it's not a joke.

Didn’t see the game, so this was my first shot. At least she remembered the words, other than that pretty lame.

I watched Marvin Gaye perform that on TV. It was an incredible experience.

That rendition wanted me to take a knee. That is brutal.

Didn't want the NBA game, but I did watch the Daytona 500. They had the anthem played by a US Naval Band so it was instrumental and they did a pretty good job. No kneeling, and most every head was bowed during the prayer before the anthem.

Yeah while I was watching it I was like, well, this is different. Looking back on it it wasn't terrible, just different.

I carefully did not watch the NBA All-Star game because I did not want to be the white person sucking all the joy out of the television. What's the appropriate date for me to watch it on my DVR?

Oh my I thought people were exaggerating! That the second worst **overall* that I've ever heard.

And the frustrating thing is she has a good voice, there were parts that were good but she just poisoned the well with too many goofy transitions.
