It's called Point Guard for a reason, Basketball fundamentally begins with the PG as he/she is the person/point of emphasis most connected with the Head coach....During Time outs; foul shots or ANY breaks in the action for that matter, you will notice the Point Guard going over information with the head coach....NOT the Shooting Guard and NOT the Small Forward. Was Clyde compared to "Magic" Johnson as a floor general? How about Chris Mullen? Too oblivious to realize or admit, for that matter, that Joshie is/was an unqualified JOKE! And Penny, based on his achievements;accolades and the position that Memphis Basketball is in right NOW. Has earned the right to become head coach and deserves based on his merit; achievements as well as commitments to the city and the University.

Josh had better creds when he was hired than Penny has now...And Josh was unqualified for this job and was a big risk.

Georgetown did something very similar, with JT. Worked pretty well.

Im not pro penny or anti penny.

I do think the argument about no D1 coaching experience is not a good one.

There are multiple examples of coaches, both NBA and NCAA, who had even less coaching experience and did pretty dang good.

I think Penny... no... I know Penny has the connections to get players. I think that is a better option / risk than waiting around and seeing if he can coach those players or take those players elsewhere.
