Gotta take what you can get. Takes Saul off the recruiting trail and lets him just worry about running drills.

Actually would this not just be replacing Esposito with Pierre? Saul stays in his same role?
Saul won't be "needed" to recruit. Pierre is a pretty big upgrade over Joe and can close far better than anyone we have currently.

Pierre for Joe is a good trade, but it still isn't the best trade.
HINT: The best trade is if Esposito isn't the one that leaves. Anybody we hire would be better than Pooh or Saul, including this guy...

Esposito is fine if you need a dude to recruit a grinder.
He is not the kind of guy who is going to walk into a top 100 kids home an hook him.
He'd be great at a mid-major combing the JUCO circuit and looking for 2* kids with an upside at a school like Valpo or Charlotte.
He won't ever get the kinds of kids Memphis fans want or are accustomed to.

And you are wrong. Chargois didn't play against Cincy, but played last night for SMU. They were down 2 rotation players, Milton and Foster, and we were down one, Jeremiah.
It's was a good win. No need to minimize it.
Come on man. Damn you’re a better poster than this.
I don’t change sides. I’m a Tiger fan for 40+ years. I qualify as a damn good fan no matter who’s grading me. I covered in my original post that they were down two or three. So, since you say it’s two, we had the advantage. Because in my book I would rather be down one player than two, obviously Shake Milton is Damn good. He killed Wichita State by himself.
My problem is with the tweeting and retweeted BS Esposito did last night. It’s bogus. Let the players celebrate. That BS he was spinning was just that BS.
And give me a break with the whiplash comment. You’re better than that.
Joe Espo mainly tweets about his faith, his family, and the Tigers. Like Coach Norvell, he uses social media, which is free. He was happy about the win.
SMU is tough at home, even down 2 rotation guys. We lost by 41 points there last March. And we didn't have our best player, who is the ACC's leading scorer. It's a good win.
I have no problem with him tweeting about his faith in Christ. I think that’s great. But those weren’t tweets about faith. It was BS. Was it a good win with Martin being out, yes.
That said, you didn’t address the whiplash comment. It was wrong and off base.
Have a good one
I think he is saying you stopped supporting this team and staff pretty quick when things were not going the way you may have wanted them to. I understand if you are not happy with the program but to all of a sudden start trashing everything about the program is not helping at all.
I haven’t stopped supporting the program. That’s not true. And you guys will have to show where I have trashed the program. I think highly of our program. I do think that Tubby is the wrong guy and fit for our program. I think highly of Rudd, despite the fact that he may have been the one pushing for Tubby. I like Bowen, he’s done a great job of turning football around. However he hasn’t done much to help basketball. Hey I do think the next guy who is hired will get the job done. But I definitely haven’t been trashing everything about the program.

Even that might be a little harsh Saluki.
Esposito is fine as a guy who augments your stud recruiter by getting those 2 star guys who provide the viable depth to fill out a roster with help.
Davenport, Thornton, Parks are all solid role players. They aren't the problem and neither is Esposito.
The problem is that in a functioning Memphis program, the players above are solid depth and the coach who recruited them is not the lead recruiter for the program.
----
I like Esposito, but he's Robin. This recruiting staff needs a Batman.
Pooh and Saul aren't even Robin, they're more like Arthur from the Tick.

#BAM man did have a great self own last night though (even though no one called him on it).

It's crazy he doesn't think of the whole picture before tweeting.
It's as if he thinks we don't know BB history...?
Or maybe he has nothing better to tweet

Esposito is MIA when our ass losses to ECU and when we have our ass handed to us on our own damn floor by Cincinnati and Wichita State. It’s so fake. Common sense tells most people that if we were playing without Martin and Davenport and Parks we would lose too, even if the other team was playing without their leading scorer.
Then there’s people tweeting how Tubby and staff are building for the future and the future is bright. This is a bad joke. Get real guys, don’t act like we just beat a top 10 team and everything is freaking awesome, while we have 11 damn losses. While our recruiting is garbage. So bogus. It’s a damn clown show.
News flash, beating a depleted SMU team who also has 11 losses doesn’t mean crap. Beating ECU, South Florida, Tulane, and Tulsa isn’t some grand achievement. Everyone here expects us to win those games. Lame stuff on twitter tonight. When we lose again those same folks won’t be heard from. Pitiful.
He is fighting for his job so he has to try and spin anything even semi-positive that he can.

I get that.
I do find it annoying, but I actually sort of like Joe, so I'm generally ok with it.
It's still funny however.
I wish Coach #BAM the best whether it's here or somewhere else, he has served us well and to the best of his abilities apparently...

In Tubby's DREAM SEASON, Minnesota started 15-1 and was ranked #8 in the country and limped home at 5-11, which included losing his last 3 Big Ten games to 13-16 Nebraska, 14-16 Purdue, and at the buzzer to Illinois. If Tubby wins the two games they were heavily favoured in, Minnesota doesn't end up being an 11 seed.
Tubby turbocharges the sucking in March.

They did get up to #8 in nation that year before the usual Feb. fade

I like Joe and without him we would be hovering in the bottom 20% in D-1, but he should reconsider his Twitter methods.
