We definitely move the ball around better on the perimeter without him. We would be a better team WITH Martin if he played the same way.
Yep.

Let's see if he sticks to it when teams keep bombing away treys and we keep giving up offensive rebounds. But it's prolly worth trying since our man-2-man defense sucks.

We are already getting shelled from three playing man and I guess it can not get much worse playing zone.

Sure that really worked giving up 14 3's to a team missing its best 3 point shooter.

We give up just as many when we play man, at least with the zone we don't give up the dribble penetration TOO.

Are we basing this observation on one game. With SMU...
Lordy, I thought the announcers were gonna bring out their violins when they talked about the poor poor Mustangs.

Johnson contributes even less.
Johnson is a guard who rebounds as well as Rivers. He also is at least somewhat of a threat from 3. And, he's got 3 more years of eligibility left to develop.
And this is why you play him. For the future. If you need a "Flop with Quivers", send in Jimario Rivers.
Johnson has not EARNED any PT. Just Tubby playing his FR. Floppy Rivers is actually better but that act is irritating at this point.

I first noticed it a couple of games ago, can’t remember which one, but Matin was out for a several minutes and Brewton was running the show, we made a run and Martin came back in and the run stopped, Wichita state maybe?

Had someone else make this same comment to me just this morning. It's like they let Martin do all the pulling when he is in, but take him out and they work well as a team.

I'm pretty sure we're not a better team without Martin, but I have noticed that many times our start is shaky....like last night.
Martin sometimes lays back during shaky starts, as if he wants the whole team to contribute, but they don't. It seems to me he's been forced to go 'all-Martin' to pull us out of holes and take on too much.
The team knew he wasn't out there last night and wouldn't be coming, so they knew 'someone' had to score. Brewton cannot handle the ball in traps, however, or under pressure.
When good teams play us, they know Martin is the one to stop...so he gets it worse.
Bottom Line. I've watched all our games--sometimes twice lol---and there is no one I would start rather than Martin.

I think that is because they are at the same lower experience/skill level.
Martin has no one at his level.
