During recent swoon, the Memphis Tigers are repeating the same season-long mistakes.

The moment that irked Memphis coach Tubby Smith more than any other during Sunday’s 68-64 loss to Central Florida occurred right before halftime.

The Knights had their second most-efficient shooting performance...

Ugh.

It really hurts to be betrayed by our own rims.

Plus we rank 346 out of the 351 D1 colleges in three pt shooting.

Hooray! We moved ahead of Maine, or Maine moved below us.

Reading that makes me want to vomit. If you personnel can't, or won't, stop dribble penetration, that's the coach's fault for recruiting them and for not adapting to your team. If they can't play man, then play zone.

Maybe Tubby really didn't see the recruits ahead of time. His observations would suggest that.

Am I the only who is in awe of his quotes?

"Smith, however, also pointed to a lack of physicality, a problem he didn’t foresee when putting together this roster. During the offseason, he figured the physical maturity of bringing in five junior-college transfers would be a strength for this team."

O the irony or agony or something "gony".....I want someone to take a stand for him throwing players under the bus. He's using them as scapegoats for his lazy arse attempt at retiring at little ole' Memphus and giving the reigns to Saul...This is sad...He needs to be called out.....Were is the substitute/stand-in NY media when you need one....Good Freak'n Grief

Yeah, that does kinda jump off the page. He's not saying, "I thought his passing skills would translate better to D1..." Rather, he's saying, "UHHH...I thought he was stronger than that. Wow, I thought he was quicker than that."

Maybe send em all to obedience training, psychological counseling and the weight room, Tubby?

Bear Bryant-"If something great happens, the players did it. If something good happens, we did it together. If something bad happens, I did it."

THAT is effective leadership. What we are seeing is, well, not. Try this tack with the administration:"The young men to whom we have given scholarships deserve better leadership in their formative years."

Tubby is as incompetent in evaluating players as he is in recruiting highly rated players. It is a toxic mix.

Why would they tank on purpose? They have nothing to gain from it?

But...But...But...the JUCO's are really going to surprise some people. No matter how people might take shots at the idea of bringing in JUCO's, I trust Tubby more than some message board jockeys.

These kids are MEN. Two are JUCO ALL-Americans. Good size. More physical. I'll trust Tubby.

The defensive effort is there. Guys hustle hard on defense.

It's the scheme that sucks, Tubby.

I thought that up until that last game, but I started to see signs of laziness on the interior, that I hadn't seen before.
