But what about other fan bases?

Should we expect a big following from Cincy, Houston and else?

No. Cincinnati will bring a few. You won’t see a single Texan at the tournament.

RE: Your fan base to attend 2018 Men's Basketball Tournament?
I will be there. I am teaching at a conference that week in Orlando. When my day is over, I plan on making my way to the tournament.

Let's face it, the days of conference tournaments may be numbered. In the 1980's, a team could win the ACC Tournament by winning 3 games. Now, a low seed has to win 5 games. That kind of wear and tear could wreck a high seed the week before the NCAA tournament.

I guess a team like Cincinnati could play their way into a 1 seed during the tournament. So what? The Bearcats can perform just as well as a 2 or 3 NCAA seed. Could the strategy be- Exit early and rest? -Let Tulane, SMU, UCF, and Temple fight for a championship to qualify for the tournament?

I know my post sounds jaded but the NCAA could expand by one weekend, drop conference tournaments, and I would enjoy the tournament more. Letting the better teams rest for a weekend while 66-128 fight for a chance to play Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Cincinnati, Villanova, Kentucky, etc... would make a fun weekend.

Orlando is a hub city. Flights are relatively inexpensive. Orlando seems like a good location for the tournament.

With the AAC adding a 12th team this year in Wichita State...the AAC added another First Round Game (4 games) so only 4 teams get First Round Byes compared to just 3 First Round Games last year that gave 5 teams First Round Byes.

Wait...in order to make college basketball better you propose LESS tournaments?

I'm going to have to disagree with you there.

Orlando is the no.1 tourist destination in the world.

Comon, Air Ticket is 200 to 300. Plus Orlando in March will be like summer anyway.

I think SMU, UCF and Temple all will be playing for an at large bid.

I'll be there. I am running a fan-support seminar for the Texas schools on Thursday. It will take a few years to get them geared up for Ft Worth.

N'awlins...

That is pretty much center, East-to-West, in the conference, it has the weather and the drawing power. Put the tournament in one place...New Orleans...and leave it there to build tradition.

If Memphis was actually Memphis, then 1,500-2,000. But...we're not. So....maybe 50

You don't have to work for the chamber to know that Orlando is an amazing welcoming place for AAC basketball and that all fans should enjoy the beautiful March weather and the local amenities (spend money).

I could somewhat agree with this. Would say the same for Nashville but the SEC is playing there a lot in the next 10-15 years
