It will be interesting what happens to the St Pete Bowl if this becomes reality. Actually a 3rd tier bowl in either Ybor or St. Pete would work. I can't image the Trop survives though.

Trop goes down as the last rays moving van leaves the parking lot. rays are on the hook for the demolition fee too

Why would you say that. The stadium wasn't even built for the Rays. It was built to entice the Chicago White Sox to move south when they were negotiating for a new park in Chicago.

Shoot, they even printed t-shirts.

I think the Trop owners also made a play for the San Francisco Giants too but I haven't found anything yet. See if you can find shirts for them too. 07-coffee3

You should see the crazy stuff online. Here is the king of crazy as you an Eagles fan: In 1984, the owner of the Eagles, Leonard Tose, was in so much debt that he almost sold the team to an owner who would have moved the team to Phoenix.

Of course, it never happened. And for good reason. A historical NFL shouldn't move. I don't know if there any shirts printed though. Probably night since it was a "possible but the NFL won't approve it" kind of thing.

When the Eagles could have moved....1984...

The question for the Bowl Game is what happens to the game if the stadium isn't there?
That was because they were building the new rays stadium over Al Lang where the rowdies play. Current soccer plan is to upgrade al lang

No chance another stadium goes up where the trop is. The condo market is on fire in downtown st pete, they'll put up condos and town homes.

And I hope they get it done, too! I would love to see the Rowdies in MLS. Imagine the grudge matches between the Rowdies and Lions in MLS if that happened ? Gotta go back to the Storm/Preds in the 90's for hatred like that...

Remember it well. Current owner Lurie made noise about moving the team in the late 90’s to extort, er, convince the city and state to fork over hundreds of millions for the Linc. I think that was a Los Angeles threat. Interestingly, Kraft was also making noise about moving the Patriots, and Philly was one of the names floated out there. Can you find any Super Bowl LII L.A. Eagles vs Philadelphia Patriots t-shirts?

Also as a younger man I had a girlfriend in Cleveland. Great town great people had their hearts ripped out when the Browns left.

Shhhh, you all are killing me. I didn't watch football really till they came back. My second favorite sports day ever was when the city got to keep the name and the history. F off Baltimore you're expansion.

Cities like San Antonio, Tampa Bay, and Louisville have been used by greedy owners for years to extort money and concessions from existing teams.

If ESPN wants to keep the bowl game in a baseball stadium they can move it to Marlins Stadium in Miami. I hear there is an AAC Bowl vacancy spot there now. For what it is worth since ESPN owns the bowl they probably could move it anywhere they want too especially if it means getting two P5 conferences involved in it. St Louis has an empty indoor stadium during the Christmas holidays now, within driving distance of B10, B12, and SEC schools. ESPN will just have to rename the bowl after its new location. AKA the new Frisco Bowl. Hopefully it would remain in Sunny Florida with the AAC and ACC associated with it though. 07-coffee3
