Grizzlies will be good next. They are in full tank mode now. A top 5 pick with Conley Gasol and they are right back in the playoffs.

The Grizz need to take Tubby off our hands if they really want to get the lottery pick

Good one sweet cheeks

The only difference is that the pro team is in a position to draft a 5 star talent

And the Tubster is not

Memphis would have to pay Tubby $10M to go away, $1M to buy Buzz out, commit at least $15M over 5 years (plus agree to rollovers again), and up the assistant pool.

Let me know when that happens.

We have locked ourselves into at least $3 million a year no matter which way we go. NO ONE other than Penny or another unproven assistant would consider taking the job for less than what we gave orlando.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. Maybe no “big name” coach ....but we aren’t hiring a “big name” coach

Tubby Smith is the biggest name sitting head coach that we have ever hired.

He is the biggest name sitting head coach hired by a non-top 10 program - or no national championships- job in a while.

Texas Tech has won a national championship...

It trips me out that people don't have the brain expansion to be able to pull for 2 Memphis teams.

I will let you know right now that next year we will sell less than 5,000 tickets per game with little or no donations attached to almost all of the tickets and we will have around $10 million less revenue from tickets than Pastner had his last season. If we hire Buzz at $3 million it costs us $5.5 million next year and $4.5 million every year after that, which includes paying off Tubby.

I would create a financial windfall for the university.

What is the difference between full control and almost full control? Next to nothing.

Tubby Smith has full control of this program right now.

Aka Saul smith on the bench as an assistant coach when two other schools wouldn’t let him be one

I mentioned that in another thread. Any coach that is allowed to hire a loser like Saul obviously has complete control or close to it.

If you have followed their draft picks since their arrival in Memphis you would know how foolish this is. I don't follow them but I know their drafting skills are not the best in that league.

Cal was the biggest name we ever hired. He was an NBA Coach and had a unreal contract. Fresh off F4 team ay Umass. Tubby’s been off the radar for at least 10 years. You ever been to Minny in the winter time? Or Lubbock in any season?

Cal was damaged goods. Left UMass in like he left us, on probation and had a short less than successful NBA tour. None name yes but we gave him a chance to rebuild his career.

Texas Tech has only won a national title once in any sport - women's basketball, 1993.
