Hey, we whine a lot as fans with our sorry season too. But damn, can the announcers give it a break! lol.

Which announcers? Radio or Online streaming? I find Curt Dudley to be great on the streaming and he is a consummate Professional.
Dave Thomas on the radio, not so much. He is pure homer and tries to justify everything that goes wrong with the hoops program.
If a player or coach took a dump, Dave would say well, it doesn’t really smell THAT bad and you kind of get used to it after a while. 01-rivals

100% accurate description! Dave is trying hard to sale the fan base on the future of the program with the core six players returning next year.

A few observations...

1. I thought the Dukes might break the streak of underdogs in their games covering the spread, but as usual, we struggle to put teams away. Just glad we ended with 1 more point than the Visitors. Dukes should be getting around 4 pts tomorrow night when hosting the league-leaders.

2. If you had told me Second Half Stuckey would end up with 5 pts, foul out with a couple of minutes left and we'd win, I would not have believed you.

3. Dukes have won last 4 home games.

4. 1 game in the standings separate teams currently in 7th thru 10th place. Dukes are 2 games back of Elon, currently in 6th place and outside of the Keener Invitational.

5. I absolutely do not understand UNCW at times. Cacok took only 9 field goal attempts. And a few were on fast break dunks. He was unstoppable when he caught the ball in the post. He should be taking at least 15 shots a game and preferably more. I know he got into foul trouble, but still. 16 pts and 8 boards is a "down" game for this guy. Says a lot about him as a player.

6. I could not see it from my seat, but looked like we might have got a break on a goal-tending early in the game called against UNCW (that wasn't maybe). Just curious if anybody watching the game online had an opinion on it or what Curt might have said about it if there was a replay or anything. ???

7. The teams combined for 7 of 41 shooting from outside the arc. Putrid. Mosley & Lewis combined for 0 for 10. Won't see that happen very often. Here's hoping we see a reversal of that for the Good Guys tomorrow night.

8. However, each team shot well from the charity stripe. UNCW 15 of 18 (83%) and Good Guys 15 of 19 (79%). Phillips misses his FT's before he even steps to the line. Terrible body language. No confidence. Like he knows he's going to miss it. And, 90% of his misses are short off the front of the rim. Banks and Lewis each went 6 of 6 at the line. Well done.

9. When some true freshmen hit a wall around this time of the season, it appears to me Zach Jacobs is getting better. Great to see. He is playing his role of defending, rebounding and setting picks well right now. I think his offensive game will come along as he matures at JMU. Looking forward to seeing his development. With him starting last night, we started 3 frosh.

10. Smallest crowd I've ever seen at a Convo game.

I think the lead up to the game had an impact on the quality of play/shooting by both teams. JMU was coming off not playing for a while and limited practice time. UNCW also isn't use to the quick turnaround at this stage in the season. I think both teams were out of sync and it showed in the quality of play.

Glad the Dukes could gut that out and get the W- the second game off a layoff on only 2 days rest against COC who is probably the best team in the conference will be a tall order. Gut check time- will need some other guys to step up.
