We should also learn that if we are an SEC school that we can pay player's mommas money & get away with it.

We also would get half a dozen big name home games every year in conference as well as have $30 million to pay midlevel schools to come to our place to play with no return game expected.

One thing UAB can learn from AU hiring Pearl and UA hiring their coach is that there is "Name value" in who you hire when going on the recruiting trails. FBC Clark has that "Name value" in this state as illustrated by our new incoming class. UAB needs to gain the same value if it hires to replace Ehsan after season 4 or 5. "Name value" and "family value" can be combined in a special case, but value must be a part of the hiring equation.

Ok moneybags, pony up. That'll be a million a year to start for a new coach. And I've given all my budget can afford.

Until T Boone Pickens, or the FedEx guy, or some other very deep pocketed sports fan want to switch allegiance to UaB. we are hoping football continues on it's upward trajectory when the next round of Conference realignment happens.

The rest of the sports just really don't matter, unless they are breaking the law. The cartel and NCAA have seen to that.

This is the best path forward. Pump money into football, get the new stadium, do everything possible to keep Clark, and hope all of that gets us into the AAC. Then we'll have more money to invest in basketball, play a more relevant schedule, and not be in a one-bid league.

In short basketball's long-term success, depends on football getting us in a better league.

& if Ray is as pro-UAB as he openly claims to be now he will let Mark accept the phone call that he wouldn't let Mackin accept.

If UAB did not have "moneybag" supporters, it would not today have football to support nor a conference in which to compete. If UAB cannot afford a good experienced BBHC next time (perhaps as soon as 2020), we will have a big national reputation problem and likely won't have to worry about better conferences coming to call. The better conferences have a lot of aspiring applicants to consider without having to add new "poor relations" to their membership.

Football will get us to the BIG12
and it will a nightmare for any UAB opponent living in alabama :)
