Just saw a tearful Kelce being interviewed post-game; says he walked on to play which I didn't recall. Both were great Bearcats and it's a thrill to have some UC guys celebrating as Super Bowl Champions. Congratulations!

Kelce was a walkon linebacker to start his career at uc. He's widely considered the best center in the nfl. The football guys i follow on Twitter that focus a ton on line play raved about him all night. There are some great clips of various plays from his amazing performance. Now he's a Super Bowl champion.

I have a feeling this may be it for Celek... If it is what a great career he's had.

Both Kelce and Celek had the key blocks to the one rushing touchdown of the night.

Celek is one of my all-time favorite Bearcats... This might be "it" for his career and, if so, he'd go out on top.

You can't play forever.

And those Andy Reid Eagles teams were UC pipelines at one point. Several Beatcats wore green over the years.

If it is the end he should be setup for life.

In 2018, Celek will earn a base salary of $4,000,000, while carrying a cap hit of $5,000,000 and a dead cap value of $1,000,000.

Contract Terms: 3 yr(s) / $13,000,000 Signing Bonus $3,000,000 Average Salary$4,333,333 GTD at Sign:$6,000,000 Total GTD:$6,000,000 Free Agent:2019 / UFA

Celek has the seal block that sprang the 21 yard TD run by Blount

Great stories here for these two stand up Bearcats and the road they traveled . Congrats to them .

More recruiting ammunition. You don't have to play in the SEC or Big 10 to be a super bowl champion and play a large role in it.

Has it really been 12 years since this happened?

Well, it's been nine since the undefeated Sugar Bowl season, so yes...

RE: Two Bearcats got their Rings tonight
Jason Kelce is widely regarded as far and away the best center in football at this moment, due to his athleticism and run blocking ability. PFF had him graded out as #1 by a 7 point margin on their scale...for the uninitiated, that's also the difference between Tom Brady and Russell Wilson this year.

There was a particular play last night where he started out doubling with the right guard in pass pro and ended up picking up a blitzer on the left edge that is a play literally only he could make.

There are so many great clips of plays he makes during the game. Multiple times he'd be blocking one guy in pass protection and slide over and stop another. Early there was a great clip of him pass blocking two guys at once. Kelce has been incredible. From walk on linebacker at UC to the best Center in the NFL.

What I noticed besides him mauling defenders is that he was almost always the first guy downfield to celebrate with a WR, TE, or RB on every big yardage play or score.

He also had a few plays where his guy got in the way and made the tackle on a running play but it was only because he had already been blocked 7 yards downfield by Kelce.

How often do you even notice the way a center plays? I know I seldom pay attention in that detail, but some of the things I saw Kelce do last night were outstanding. That guy moves for someone his size.

That really was the only reason why he was drafted. I remember talking to a buddy of mine who played at Wayne State and worked in the Colts organization (he works for Lilly now) who was in the war room during that draft and they rated him as the most athletic OLman in a 7 year window, but his size scared people off. He has managed being a smaller guy because he very rarely has one on one assignments and his athleticism allows him to engage guys in the second level and slide down the line in a why that very few others have been able to do at the Center level in a long time.

Also, partially related, but when was the last time that siblings were both names 1st Team All-Pro? I can't recall that ever happening outside of maybe the Matthews brothers in the 80's-90's. The Kelces are athletic freaks of nature and have parlayed that into some pretty incredible careers already. Travis is rating out at a potential Hall of Fame caliber career trajectory through his first four years and Jason is arguably the center of the decade at the moment depending on how it ends up between him, Alex Mack, and Travis Frederick who all have two first team All Pro nods at the moment.

I'm happy for and proud of Brent Celek and Jason Kelce. What a shame, though, that Connor Barwin wasn't able to stay with the Eagles and earn a ring. Three great Bearcats.
