Charter/Spectrum Raises Min. Wage To $15/Hr, Citing Tax Cuts & Net Neutrality Repeal
Congrats, Charter/Spectrum employees!

Quote:Citing the tax reform legislation and the FCC's network neutrality reg rollback, Charter CEO Tom Rutledge said Friday (Feb. 2) that the company was instituting a $15-per-hour minimum wage across the board by the end of the year.

Pay will still vary by state, but no wage below Charter's $15 minimum.

Now that Net Neutrality has been repealed. They can go ahead and start charging for internet fast lanes. Maybe we will all get lucky and GTS wont be able to keep this free message board up and running.

How many years of that not happening have to pass before it can be called for what it is, a debunked, alt-leftist talking point?

I'm not as well versed in Net Neutrality as I should be but if I understood right if Spectrum has service in my area and currently they can offer me faster speeds for the same price or slower speeds at a reduced rate, that'd be awesome. But I'm understanding that they have to offer rates and throttle speed because of net neutrality.

Am I missing something?

How about four years since Comcast and Verizon did it to Netflix. https://www.extremetech.com/computing/18...-bandwidth

The Internet has become a Utility. You wouldn't want your electric company to dim your lights.

I disagree. Internet is not running water, sewage, or electricity. You don't need it. It's not a utility, it's a luxury.

So I could make $15/hr sweeping floors at Spectrum. I should check into that.

In the beginning it was very much a luxury. But it has far surpassed that now. It's gotten to the point where you can't even do basic commerce without it.

It's not an utility if it was a city or county would be in charge. It's a luxury.

there are a lot of cities that provide internet access because the big companies won't in areas, so it creates a need for the city to build a fiber network and provide internet access.

Good point. But I still stand by what I said. My parents don't have internet and they're able to function. It's not a utility.

Should electricity be considered a utility? Your parents could use candles. When something takes over every facet of our lives. It becomes a utility.

Well I guess they can buy ice to keep food cool too huh.

I get your stance, but I'm saying it's not an utility. It's a luxury. If you have enough money for lights or internet, what gets shut off. Hint it's not electricity because you have to have it to power the modem. If it was truly an utility it would be available to everyone. It's not. Electricity, water, even garbage pick up is available to everyone hence they're considered utilities. When every citizen, town, etc can have access to the internet I'll agree. Right now it's not.

And FYI... I can go weeks without the internet. Hell I just did a week in November. Spent the week in the snow bear hunting. Excellent way to detox.

The dems were in charge, tried to mandate this, and these jobs completely disappeared.
