Hello and how are you? Your email below made its way to me and I wanted to respond. We understand your frustration but ultimately we want to maximize visibility for our schools. We currently offer a mix of distribution between linear TV and digital for our cord cutters. We have been working for months with our web provider to get CUSA.tv on Roku. Roku has changed their terms and this has caused us problems as CUSA.tv is currently a subscription product and we don’t want fans to have to buy multiple subscriptions. Getting our content on Roku is a priority and we hope to offer this option to fans when football starts next fall. Thank you very much for your support of Marshall athletics!

Isn't pretty much every app on there a subscription product, like Netflix etc? They carry the app and you still have to sign in to show you have sub. Don't see that their response is even somewhat relevant.

exactly..see means she wants you to subscribe to c-usa tv..for an all-in 1 c-usa...

that there are other ways to get on roku like partnering with apps already on their (like fubo/watchespn) but they won't pick up everything, theyd have to split up into multiple products and would still be missing stuff

here response is they want c-usa tv on roku where you'll only have to sub once to watch on roku

RE: Got reply from CUSA office
I posted this around 5 PM today on another thread titled 'Thoughts'....

Today I got a response to an e-mail that I sent to the league office a few weeks ago regarding the poor availability of TV access to the conference Basketball and Football games. I have copied the response below for all to see. I would recommend that instead of beefing about the lack of decent TV coverage here on the forum that you take 5 minutes to send a cordial, direct, and factual e-mail about your own displeasure regarding the lack of coverage compared to other G5 conferences.

Personally I would like to see the conference develop it's own CUSA page on ROKU and the schools be obligated to cover their home events live. My second choice would be for the schools to reach an agreement to cover the home events and the league to have an agreement to get it on ESPN3.

Lastly I respect her for sending me an e-mail that addressed my concerns. I'm hoping that many others on here will follow suit. Remember that the squeaking wheel is the one that gets the grease.

E-MAIL RESPONSE

*****,

Hello and how are you? Your emails below have made their way to me and I wanted to be responsive to you. I do apologize for the delay. We certainly agree with your frustrations and want to get as many of our schools’ events covered by our current multimedia partners as well as future partners. We currently offer fans a mix between linear TV and digital for cord cutters. The smaller conferences who have not had linear TV options are ahead of us at producing their own content that is airing on digital providers like Roku and ESPN3. Those schools have been forced to produce their own content. Getting all of our C-USA schools’ video production capabilities ESPN3 compliant is a priority for Conference USA. We want all of our schools to be able to produce events at the highest level.

Our current partner Stadium just became available on Roku. We have been working for months with our web provider to get CUSA.tv on Roku. Roku has changed their terms and this has caused us problems as CUSA.tv is currently a subscription product and we don’t want fans to have to buy multiple subscriptions. We have had initial conversations with our members about offering CUSA.tv content for free. Ultimately it is their decision since it is their revenue stream. Either way, getting our content on Roku is a priority and we hope to offer this option to fans when football starts next fall.

We want to maximize visibility and make it as easy as possible for fans like you to watch games when you can’t be there in person. Thank you very much for your support of ODU Athletics. Take care!

Good to know it's a canned response that we both got exactly the same. Thanks for taking the time to listen CUSA, not.

this conference is a fk'n joke....you have a dipshite biatch at the helm with a collection of disconnected schools in an over saturated market.....wtf did you think would happen???

I'm to the point of simply enjoying the teams that are good and letting the vid situation play out.....

it's become tiring talking about it after 7 fk'n years of horseshite....

it's waste of fk'n time that is outside of anyone's control.....

She's probably surrounded by people telling her she's doing a great job. I felt the need to burst that bubble. More people complaining will be more effective than less people complaining. Hopefully a bombardment of ticked off fans will get a better product available or drive her out.

If the AD's and university presidents do not push for changes, it really will not matter what we think. Say ODU, MU, USM etc, used to more tv money, exposure, are out voted on conference matters, what are they going to be able to do to change anything. The fans get pissed, the school loses more attendance money, all due to the conference being a crap fest. What can these schools do if they want change but can't make it happen.

Then "copy" each of the member school's Presidents when you correspond with CUSA officials on such matters. And that is assuming the Presidents' letters are not filtered by some "could care less" secretary or clerk.07-coffee3

Glad you got a response. If they can get football games by this fall on Roku that would be a positive step. I emailed them as well. We have got to get better coverage on tv period.

Correct and those are the people we need to be complaining to. I personally think when you are complaining about not getting coverage the first thing that pops in the ADs head is....cheap ass get off the couch and buy a ticket and support your team. But a lot of us are season ticket holders.

Since CUSATV is controlled by each school as far as revenue. I think we all should contact our ADs and let them know as a season ticket holder cusatv should be free to us that spend the money for those season tickets. Sometimes life gets in the way of going to a game and you should have to pay again.

Actually if you think about it , it could drive season ticket sales up at least on the low end range tickets.

But in the end when you are part of making a hire....the last thing you want to admit, you made a mistake. I don't blame the commissioner for the TV or lack of it because she was dealt this hand of a 5-3 off suit . I don't think she's the right face for the conference...too low energy. But any change is years off. No way those who made this hire is willing to say they failed, at this point.

TV coverage is about more than getting off the coach and going to a game.

It's about the regular fans watching an away game that is half way across the country. It's about building your fan base. It's about telling a recruit your family and friends will be able to follow you every game you play home or away. It's a statement that we take pride in our conference. It's about getting to know the players and coaches on the other teams in the conference. It's about BUILDING A FAMILY!

Why not charge a subscription fee for all the CUSA content not just your home school? Otherwise every school should have their own Roku app that stream their own content. I strongly prefer the first option.

Same. Charge 6.99 a month for all cusa content. Period. All schools. That's kind of what I thought we were doing 2 years ago when it was supposed to be on the schools to be prepared to produce a stream.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

I think I reacted and didn't respond. Does cusa.tv not give you access to all games from app teams? I thought I could watch anything they had available when I was subscribing for a few months.

My reply from her--

Hello and how are you? Your email below has made its way to me and I wanted to respond. We certainly agree with you and want to get as many events covered by our current multimedia partners as well as future partners. Getting all of our schools’ video production capabilities ESPN3 compliant is a priority.

As for CUSA.tv, we pulled all live streaming video together into CUSA.tv almost two years ago. The idea behind it was that fans could see their team’s home and away games with just one subscription. Having access to all other events as well could cultivate new fans. While we wanted to make this easier for fans – it was already a revenue source for each of our schools so we decided to initially keep it as a paid product. We have just recently started talking to our members about transitioning to a free offering in response to feedback like yours below. Thanks very much for your support!

With CUSA.TV you can watch all games from any team. The problem is it's only available on computers and phones. We want it in an app form for major brands of TV viewing like Roku, Firestick, Apple TV etc. Some of those may get it, but Roku does not and I don't want to invest in 30 ways to see games. We need consolidated platforms. If you use a Firestick or a Roku then you should be able to get ESPN3, Stadium, Facebook Watch(Stadium), and CUSA.TV all on that device. Right now we have 2 of those.

Doesn't even account for ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, beIN or CBSSports, but most people have a TV package that already includes most of those. I'd prefer to have apps for those too, included with my Directv, on the same Roku. Then I can hook up one device at my bar and tell the bartender to use whichever app is applicable and head to the game. As it is now, I have to hang around and make sure the right means is set up on the computer, the sound is hooked up, it working on the projector, the dumbasses at Herdvision aren't starting the game late, resetting the connection as needed, as it always seems to drop, etc, etc.

I wonder why the stopped allowing it to be used with Chromecast? The first year they did but no longer, now I have to directly hook my phone up to the TV.

I wonder how many subscriptions are lost because it's not on Roku and Chromecast?
