Kent State @ Bowling Green State University
The Flashes hit the road for a Saturday matinee at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green. BG enters with a 13-9 overall record including a 4-5 conference mark. The Falcons notched some nice mid major non conference wins over Drexel, Florida Gulf Coast and San Jose State. Heading into conference play they looked like a team that could challenge for the conference title. MAC play has been tough sledding for Bowling Green, although they are coming off a 16 point win over shorthanded Ohio.

The Falcons leading scorer is 6'4 junior guard Jordan Turner, who averages 15 points per game. Turner is part of a high scoring BG backcourt. 5'10 sophomore Rodrick Caldwell and 6'4 sophomore Dylan Frye average 10 points and 12 points respectively. 6'5 junior Antwan Lillard is also back in full time action. The Cleveland Central Catholic graduate has big time game when he is on. Zabo, Avery and Walker will have their hands full with these guys.

But the best all around player for the Falcons can be found in the paint. 6'10 junior Demajeo Wiggins averages 13 points and 9 rebounds per game. Wiggins is a Toledo product and graduate of Springfield HS. This should be an interesting matchup down low. Curious to see if Rob deploys De La Rosa, Pippen, or a combination of both on Wiggins.

Anyway, this is a big one for the Flashes. Another realistic opportunity to steal a road win. BG ain't that good and the 3:30 start time is a bit odd. I will be curious to see the attendance figures. I imagine that could go either way.

As we enter February I figure its time to start scoreboard watching a bit. So after the Flashes knock off BG I will be pulling for Akron (yep, Akron), EMU, Ohio and NIU. And yes, Kent will knock of BG...

Kent State 79
Bowling Green 75
Jalen Avery seals it down the stretch to cap off a 23 point game

GO FLASHES!

You better pull for Akron before the BG game. After will be too late.
Toledo @ Akron—Noon on CBSSN.
(I don’t think I can do it myself. Go Rockets?)

Good call, thanks. In about 90 minutes my wife is going to look up and say...seriously, your watching Akron and Toledo? Go clean the garage or something.

Heading to BG now to watch our boys. With Myles Pizza gone, anyone have a dinner suggestion for a post game celebration?

Frickers is a good wings and beer spot. Used to go there before HS regional games back at Anderson Arena. Sports bar atmosphere. I think BG had a coach find his way into some trouble there. So it’s halloed ground.

Last time we went to Stroh Center we ate and drank at a place called the easy street cafe. Food was a step better than sports bar, good beer selection and the bartender made a good martini so I was happy.

Thanks Fallsdog. I like Frickers but thinking we'll give Easy Street a shot. Used to love the Akron band "Easy Street" back in the day!

Cool. I seem to remember that easy street had a decent sized bar and two dining rooms with plenty of tables. Definitely more of a restaurant feel but hip enough to make us feel like we were “out in BG”.

If I remember the game correctly, Guyton couldn’t hit the side of a barn and Porrini was off his game. But that pales in comparison to the loss at Anderson Arena when Qs tummmy ache knocked Kent right back out of the top 25. That was a quiet trip home.

Our three point shooting has really come around. Pippen is now up over 40%. Zabo is at 38% and Avery and Walker are slightly over 33%. Seems like we've stopped forcing it outside of a few Walker forces here and there.

Funny, my wife and I were at both of those games too. Earlier today we were talking about losing that "Q tummy ache game." Think it was right after winning the Bracket Buster game out St Mary's...our ride home was not a fun one either!

Got really sloppy late in the first half and have left BG back into it and gave them the momentum heading into halftime. Pretty frustrating. A lot of rushed possessions going one on one.

A 17 point lead down to 6 at half. Let’s hope they dig in, build a new lead and hit The turnpike with a win.

Refs figured out BG had no chance to stop Adonis De La Rosa so they decided maybe they could.

Looked like Walker got mugged on that rebound. Then the BG guy tripped over him after knocking him to the ground... Foul on Walker.

Was it my imagination or was the BG guy standing out of bounds when they gave him the crucial tie up with AD?

No help, let alone spark off the bench to stop the bleeding. The offense, if you want to call it that was somewhere in Findlay for the best part of the 2nd half.

I will no longer say this team is coming around. Every time I say it they play terrible. The worst of it was I had just watched the women complete the trifecta of losing to the 10th, 11th and 12th place team and then got to the car to hear the men were winning 29-10. Then they collapsed. Maybe it is me!!
