RE: Kent State @ Bowling Green State University
One of things I have learned over the years being a fan of a mid major basketball program is never to believe the hype surrounding recruits. Don't get me wrong, you can't expect coaches to bat a thousand, or even .700 when it comes to recruits. But when you read how athletic, how strong, what a "good get", how this kid brings a toughness or that kid brings freak athleticism....its all propaganda.

Davis is actually the missing piece right now IMO. The Flashes lost a good one there. To be fair, I am sure that the distance from home played a role.

That's a lot easier to do when you are throwing bags of cash and car keys recruits' way.

Is this just a general feeling of yours or do you have any specific information about problems at UT?

I call this a coach selling his soul to the player. Christian did this with Gates in his senior year when Gates thought he had a NBA career if he could play guard. By the end of the year he was worn out for having the ball for 90 feet the entire game. I am more upset at Coach allowing Walker to turn the ball over time after time. He shoots much better squared up off the pass. Not a great ball handler.

I think you guys are being alittle hard on Walker and Sendy here. Sendy did sit him down for a half this year then brought him off the bench after that, and he wasn't the first guy off the bench either. He absolutely wastes some possessions with poor shot selection but as a whole that seems to have been improving, particularly after the benching.

To steal a line from Erik Spolestra about Dion Waiters, Walker has "irrational confidence" and honestly that's what makes him great. He plays with an intensity that gives him his edge. If you take that fire and irrational confidence away he's probably just your average MAC level guard. Do I wish he would he would never fire up an NBA range 3 with 20 seconds on the shot clock and stop letting the other team know about it every time he makes a basket? Of course. But that's not who he is. He really does drive me crazy a lot, but I also feel that he's one of the most under appreciated players we've had. Keep in mind he's likely going to blow past our all time record for threes and he has a legit shot at the scoring record.

I for one am talking 100% about Walker’s attitude and ridiculous actions and nothing about his game. He is an extremely talented player. I don’t think anyone questions that. This is not the kind of attitude that lends itself well to team building, trust and the like. This is college ball, not the NBA… I watch 3 to 4 college games a week and I never see this type of behavior.

You never see his type of behavior? What exactly? Signaling the home crowd to be quiet after a big basket is ridiculously common and as far as I saw that's all he was really guilty of on Saturday. Against UB he was motioning to get the crowd fired up and telling people it was his house when we took the lead... Again super common. I've seen him say things to the opposing teams bench which I don't care for... But again I've seen that in a ton of games and it's nothing to bench a kid over. What exactly is he doing that no one else does?

I do not see other college players doing what you just described. I see idiot professional athletes do this (particularly NFL players) but not college men’s basketball players. Against Toledo, he stood and jawed with their bench for 4-5 seconds. Against Bowling Green Saturday, Walker was not merely placing his finger by his mouth in a “hush motion.” It was an all out taunting motion.

If you think that’s OK, then alright. In my experience of playing and watching the game, I do not see this type of behavior as part of most championship teams or of classy programs.

Guess I am just “old School”

If you aren't seeing this stuff in college BB, you are watching games with one eye ... Even the Duke's... Kentucky's and more have this stuff going on ... don't like it either ... but its happening in almost every game.

My problem with Walker AND THE TEAM ...is no consistency. When Kent is good they are very good ... but when they are bad .....

RE: Kent State @ Bowling Green State University
Maybe the coaching staff should post this quote from Jim Brown (NFL GOAT). But I doubt it. This is so 20th century.

(Jim Brown) On elaborate TD celebrations and dances:

"It's an example of ignorance. Pure ignorance. There's no upside to it. It's self-serving ignorance. The bottom line is, any intelligent person realizes that until the game is over there's nothing to celebrate. ... So like I said, there's no upside. It's ignorance, and I don't even know how players can stoop to being so ignorant that they can hurt their team after something that's been successful. That is as bad as it gets. To me there's no other side of the story. There's no two sides of this story. It's a terrible, terrible lack of intelligence."

As for me, I agree, this is embarassing to the team, KSU, and its alumni. ADLR, DP, & BJD also need to keep their emotions in check.
