How the the shutdown and return of UAB football affected me
I've been recounting my experience of the shutdown and return of UAB football. This is the first of three blog posts. The second one will get in the meat of the story more. This first one is more or less detailing my connection and love for UAB athletics.

Great job! I've said that before that if they'd shut down the football program after McGee's last game that we wouldn't have football right now. Clark was the perfect coach at the perfect time.

Hard at times for some of us older folks to realize that not every UAB fan has watched Steve Mitchell play.

I miss Jerome Mincy's high powered bank shot. At times, Jerome threw fastballs at the backboard that went in with a high degree of accuracy.

I will always wonder what kind of records Andy Kennedy would have set had he played with two good legs. Even on one leg he was like a more taller, more athletic version of Nate Darling with Aaron Johnson's heart and competitive fire.

Same way he shot free throws. Except for that last part.
