I was glad to see Coach Forbes let Jurkin play on a night when he was really feeling it.

And I was REALLY glad to see Mladen Armus reaction to Jurkin's game and the time that he was getting - huge hugs and literally jumping up and down with laughter. You can't manufacture that chemistry.

I love how Desonta seems to close out games.

This team seems to have a quite confidence.

Does anyone know who the young man wearing the stocking cap was that was sitting on the bench next to Rodriguez during warmups and then sat on the end line next to our bench during the game and with whom Coach Forbes shook hands before the game?

If yesterday's environment doesn't make a recruit want to come here, I don't know what would. I also saw a very large group of football recruits. Again, having a big day with great basketball and energetic fans only helps the athletic department continue our momentum into the future.

Tell ya what, you nailed it. From 250 miles away viewing it on ESPN3, the whole event was #1 class. Of course the win and the season tops it all off. But, the view of the place (Freedom Hall) rocking and rolling was made for the TV audience. Talk about college basketball atmosphere, that was it. Scanning across the ESPN3 games and those on TV, not many, including the big boys, topped that. After all these years (for my generation), the marriage of old (refurbished) Freedom Hall and ETSU basketball has been like stumbling upon a diamond in the rough.

RE: Official Game Thread: Chattanooga
Coach Forbes on the radio this morning.

-UTC was actually better this time than the last time despite the score. He was especially pleased at the way ETSU was able to defend without fouling to a large degree.
-When asked why Peter seemed to do better against players nearer his own size (as witness the Kentucky game), Coach said that he was generally a better match up around the rim against taller players and can score more readily than most players near his own size. Coach says that he is constantly encouraging Peter to stay near the rim and not chase players out away from the basket.
-Speaking of the 67-68 team in attendance, Coach said that he asked Tommy Woods to speak to the team regarding his experiences as ETSU's first black basketball player. Coach said that his talk made a huge impact on the team.
-Coach is glad that the team will get a few days off. When he first saw the schedule, he didn't like the big break right before the last push of the season. But now with some nagging injuries and illnesses affecting the team he is glad of a break. Armas especially seems to be suffering from illness and could use a rest.
- When asked about the winning streak Coach said that it isn't something they give a lot of thought to or worry about. He said that he didn't believe that a loss would be a good thing as the team doesn't pay much attention to hype about the streak, they accept the challenge of each game and don't look much beyond that. He doesn't think a loss would be devastating going into SOCON tournament, but he knows that they must win the tournament.
-It was pointed out to Coach that the team needs 4 wins to clinch at least a share of regular season title and 5 wins for an outright season championship.
-He doesn't see the team changing anything that they are doing as it seems to be working to this point.
-Forbes commended McCloud for his totals during the game while he was in foul trouble throughout. Coach said that McCloud wants to be a firefighter.
-Coach Forbes is heading to Florida to recruit.

Thanks for the update BigIsland! Wasn't able to catch it this morning, but am a big fan of Forbes' interview on the monster. It's usually 2-3 times per week right?

It seems to vary depending on the BUC's schedule, but usually he calls in at least 2 days a week on either Monday-Wednesday-Friday and it is almost always at 9:30.
