Another double-double for Erica Ogwumike (17 points, 10 rebounds). She's probably a shoo-in for conference newcomer of the year.

Owls win 62-56 to go to 17-3 on the year and once again tie WKU for 1st place in conference play.

I really hope we get Olivia Ogwumike back for Louisiana Tech. Despite all the wins, the team could use a shot in the arm with her return.

Notes:

-About time another team decided to press us for an entire game. We're not the worst team I've ever seen breaking presses, but we do have a propensity to be sloppy. Doubt we'll go another game this season without seeing a steady diet of full court
-I still think we need to try to steal some minutes with Bennett + Ozoude at some point during games. Another 7-player rotation tonight, including Chrisman + Erica going 37. WKU is gonna be really tough next Saturday if our sub pattern stays the same

WKU isn't this Saturday but the one after that (Feb. 10th). Very tough stretch of four games coming up (at La Tech, WKU, at UAB, at Middle Tennessee) but at least they have 6 days off before that stretch begins.

Yeah that's what I meant but not what I wrote. 7-player rotation, especially getting pressed a lot, is gonna be really difficult to survive with considering our opposition.

Bennett did play briefly in the first half. I don’t think Ozoude would have been a good match against the USM pressure.

Mayze's 10 turnovers more or less was the difference in the game. Niether Chrismann or Wiggins took a single shot in the second half. Why? It appears the second half of games we try to use the entire shot clock to our own detriment. Even more important than getting Olivia back, we need Nicole to rediscover her game. She has been ice cold since the game I saw way back on January 8th. Fortunately, Wendy Knight has picked up the slack, but she took stopped looking for her shot in the second half.

Yeah you're probably right about Ozoude tonight. And Bennett got 2 minutes, but I think she's probably good enough to steal 10 minutes or so. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I understand Langley's decisions tonight. Can't really go to anybody but the 7 played against the press. Ozoude's decision making is questionable, Bennett's turnover prone. Tough situation all around.

Again Langley shows uncommon skill at clock management. I think she did pretty well with the bench, too. I admit getting worried when the lead was cut to four, but it turns out she knew what she was doing.

RE: Lady Owls vs SoMiss
Southern Miss only played eight players during the game. Given their short rotation, their intensity with the press in Q4 was pretty impressive.

Southern Miss has been up and down this year, but when they are up, they are a good team. They are the only team in the conference that has beaten UAB this season and they won that game by 17 points at UAB.

Good win against a good team but also inconsistent team. We lack a good ball handler. Did Gaby play? She has been having a disappointing season what I saw. She still seems pretty green against good teams.
