JMU...circa 1983
Stumbled on this and thought some of you older fartekers in particular might enjoy taking a look back... http://sites.jmu.edu/specialcollections/...days-1983/

A sample...

The “Electric Zoo” perfected the Toilet Paper toss to celebrate the first JMU score of a game in the brand new Convocation Center.

One of those was probably mine.

I've almost thought it is worth the technical to start off the game by bringing back the old tradition. "Electric" was truly the case.

Wow, lots of memories. I had a friend who stayed at HoJo's. I thought it was so cool as he had shag carpet.
Almost saw the Pat Benatar concert. The windows were slightly ajar and we were able to watch from outside until chased away by student security cadets.
I was so amazed that you could watch any JMU sports team for free.
BTW, the 81-82 MBB team will be inducted into the JMU HOF.

When the new Union Bank & Trust Center opens, we should do the same thing when the Dukes score their first points there.
It's worth the penalty.

I actually bought student season tickets for that 82-83 season to guarantee myself a good seat for all the games.

I did as well. Good thing too. I didn't win the UVA game lottery. (not that it turned out all that exciting)

I did get in to the UVA game via lottery. Good thing, as I graduated that Dec. so I only had a handful of games to attend as a student in the new Convo.
