Denver isn't trading Will this season, he is too important to what they want to do.

If we get a 1st rounder from Denver, we have to take someone they don't want anymore who has salary beyond this season, like Mudiay. Denver reportedly has offered Mudiay and their 2nd, hopefully the Grizz get more than that for Tyreke.

The Celtics are chasing that extra first-round pick in Marcus Smart trade talks in hopes of flipping it in a deal for either Lou Williams or Tyreke Evans, league sources say

Today, Boston would have the 28th pick. Why not just give it to the Grizz for Tyreke?

Easy to see the makings of a 3-way deal with Denver, Boston and Memphis. Boston moves Marcus Smart to Denver, Tyreke to Boston, Memphis gets a pick or Malik Beasley or Hernangomez. Add in filler players or 2nd round picks as needed.

Man, they are dumb.

Nah, like it or not the Grizz played this one perfectly. This the is the exact situation they hoped for when they signed Tyreke.

They got him on a cheap salary hoping for a resurgence in his career where they could deal him for future assets. Looks to be working out perfectly.

There was never an intention of keeping Tyreke beyond this year so getting any asset in return for him is because of a well played signing by the Grizz FO.

He is the best player on the team even if everyone is 100% healthy.

So, no, it's idiotic.

Mark my words.

They will end up with a d-leaguer at best.

I'd trade anybody else but Tyreke.

The Grizz can't keep Tyreke, unless they can figure out how to dump Chandler Parson's contract (and that ain't happenin)

Evans is on a one season deal and will be able to be an unrestricted free agent next season. The Grizz don't have enough salary cap space to even bid on him. He's lost to free agency with no return whatsoever. Whatever we get for him now is better than keeping him and having him win more games for us this season. The more losses we get the better our draft position. #teamTank

Yup - no upside to keeping him. Even a 2nd Round pick is worth moving him...

Seems like I saw 12 mill in space.

Maybe I am wrong, but I would try like hell to move conley and yes I know it would be nearly impossible but I would damn sure try.

And I would reinforce the issue about injury retirement with Parsons.

If you want to win, and you can't with current personnel then you have to change personnel.

Conley, Parsons, Gasol will never, ever win anything together so what's the point in keeping them?

It's actually worse than that. Grizz are restricted to offering Tyreke a 20% raise, or the non-taxpayer MLE. We actually have much more flexibility with a contract offer for Tyreke this summer if Tyreke is on a different team.

Supposedly 7 teams interested in Tyreke. Hopefully that makes someone desperate to get him. Trade deadline is tomorrow.

Outside of Gasol nobody will want to take those players with their massive contracts. Even with Gasol the Grizz are going to be taking back a huge contract, most likely on a bad player, you just hope it is an expiring contract.

At the end of the day, you cannot just unload these massive contracts on teams and in return get players who have small salaries. The salary cap is not going to allow that for the vast majority of teams.

Tyreke has so much flexibility, in terms of trading, predominately because he is not adding $15+ million to a team's payroll. And as others have stated, resigning him in the off season is not a legitimately option so you might as well get something in return for the risk the Grizz took on.

Presumably they already have a better option than a D-League player if Marcus Smart and a 1st round pick are being offered. Go look at past drafts, even last round players usually turn into role players of some sort and sometimes you get a gem like Tony Parker or Kobe Bryant.

Not sure what the reference to idiotic was, I never said that about anything you said...

Yes, that is what happens when you dramatically overpay for players on the short side of their prime... Conley has very little if any trade value. Parsons has absolutely no trade value and in fact would be seen as a negative for any team taking him on and Gasol's trade value declines daily and will dramatically less next year.

Maybe he re-signs this summer for the exception they can offer him. I think it's 6 or 8 mil. Can't remember. That's a big risk to take.
