Earlier this week it was announced he was suing his own son for trademark infringement. Seems his son, George Sink Jr, is also an ambulance chaser and opened up his own firm and it was cutting into dad's business.

Kap, not that you would (nor I), but you could buy a beater and be fully insured and make 16k/mo intentionally getting into a 'weekly wreck' w/o ever visiting the office....

Oh it would be easy. Could probably make more than that. Most of the time the insurance companies don't even challenge the claim if it's not some exorbitant amount. Cheaper for them to just pay it than to fight it.

My newest gripe: Police departments that ask for a crime narrative and you can only post a certain number which doesn't do the job. I think these people have seen too many Jack Webb "just the facts" narrative too much.

I tried to make a theft report on my computer and I gave up and just got exasperated and told them I was robbed. Stupid cops.

The wonderful world of computerized reporting. It's not just the police, it's all of public safety these days.

Even worse than that is the computer aided dispatch systems. Just about all of them require that you enter a street number to create an incident. That works fine in the urban settings where street numbers are clearly available, but isn't worth a damn in a rural area where the numbers may exist but there's no way to find one.

Another thing Kaplony, the form asks a lot of questions on the person doing the reporting like height, color of eyes and hair, age, etc. It's like you're the culprit and not the victim. It sucks. P.s. I just got an email stating that my report was not adequate and I had to call a certain number and they make you wait forever. Right now I'm waiting for the next available operator. Sigh...

RE: What grinds your gears?
We apparently have a new "policy" here in the ever increasing nanny-State and less free Ol Virginny:

ABC now cards everyone, regardless of age, appearance or whatever. AND not only are they carding you, they could give a damn about someone who was clearly 21YO 3 decades ago, so they don't even look at the ID, they now "gun it" into the register.

Isn't that cute! Wonder what the chances are of that li'l nugget of info gets passed along to others and potentially bad actors.

I don't go often, but it'll pick up once tailgate season comes around. Others provide much of the spread, sides, someone with a grill etc, I bring the coolers of ice and something tasty to mix. When I'm buying a 100 bucks of booze every week or two, how long before I get a freaking knock on my door from someone?

Nah, I'm just paranoid. They're not actually watching us 24/7... 07-coffee3

As they say, "Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they aren't out to get you."

I despise, and have avoided, putting my crucial information on the Web. The government now demanding it really chaps my butt.

The info is probably going to insurance companies who will examine your brands and quantities and use an algorithm to determine your potential future health care costs and the probable expiration range of your liver.

There was a grocery store here that did that. Seems they got busted selling to underaged buyers from the State Alcoholic beverage Commission and got heavily fined so this was their reaction. Everyone got their ID scanned for alcohol or tobacco. It was in place a little over a year and they eventually closed the location.

RE: What grinds your gears?
Wal-Mart.

If you buy anything that won't fit in a bag, the gestapo stops you on the way out the door and makes you show them your receipt.

I think I'm going to tell them no next time and see what they can do, if anything. They have no proof whatsoever that I'm stealing anything, and they aren't loss prevention employees as far as I know, so I don't know what real power they even have.

And equally frustrating are the shoppers who gleefully go right towards them and show them their receipt. I try to find the exit they're not currently at...or hope they are with another shopper.

Bottom line, if they insist on having 15 U-scans with 1 employee watching them, how's that my problem? If you don't like people leaving mistakenly leave without paying or just plain shoplifting, get rid of the U-Scans and hire some more employees!

Technically they can't stop you. It's more of a courtesy from shoppers. Folks have gotten fired for "stopping" people. Most retailers frown on it because of potential lawsuits.

What bugs me about the Walmart is when you go thru the self checkout and buy some cold medicine. I'm not talking about the entire shelf, just 1 package. The light goes on, the register locks up, and you stand there like a dope until someone half my age comes up to "approve" my purchase and make sure I'm over 18.

C'mon, I'm not cooking meth with 1 pack of Vick's nighttime cold medicine.

Yea, except I'm not drinking all that. Some? Yes, enough for a sizable tailgate, lol, no.

It's as if I was the one bringing burgers and dogs and they then assume I'm eating 30 hotdogs and 25 burgers a week. Don't even really like hotdogs all that much...

Yea, I could see that, might have been part of their agreement to not get shut down. But, this is apparently State-wide and was simply some new policy by the new "Commissioner" or whomever. Not even a law voted on by the State Legis or anyone, just done by proclamation .

Allegedly to stop underage drinking and fake ID's. How does this, do that?

People who want who “volunteer” you for things. One of my many gigs that I hope will get me to retirement before 60 is doing IT stuff for people. I dislike when a past customer tells someone that I’d do them a favor and do a job for free.

Apuntar y disparar! That should take care of it if you are good and sauced. Of course you'll need a new TV set but it is so much more preferable than expressing that hostility at real people, and probably even cathartic. You could consider an old analog set for the satisfaction the way we used to sell swings with a sledge hammer at clunkers.

What's grinding my gears these days is that we are very long on those who bellyache about everything, but woefully short on those who would lift a finger to actually change things.
