Yawn. Apparently, they think both teams will lose when we play FIU.

I just dont see it, I think 5-7 is our basement again. Im hoping for 8-4. If ODU goes 3-9 we should consider moving on from BW.
What 5 to 8 games do you see us winning?
there are 6 games in the middle of our schedule that will likely beat the heck out of us physically and mentally. 3-9 is a real possibility, but so it 6-6. The only game I see a clear Ws are VMI, UNCC, and Rice.

I definitely don’t think 3-9 is that far fetched either. I’ll be pretty shocked if we go .500. I see a 3-4 win season at best. Hope I’m wrong. Probably not though.

I would love if the season played out like that. I see at least 2, more like 3 of those W's as 50/50 games. Could be a great season or rather depressing.

I don't know too much about how Charlotte will be next season, but I do remember scoring just 2 field goals against them at home this past season in a 6-0 win. That was a tightly contested game throughout. We'd have to perform a lot better to be a shoe-in to defeat them on the road I would think.

Way way way too soon to be predicting Ws and Ls when we're still a couple of months away from spring practice. They bring a lot back from last year's team but how much Williams improves in the offseason will be the linchpin to whatever kind of success ODU will have next season. Nevertheless, way early to be thinking about actual numbers.

This is not unreasonable. We should be better than those 7 teams unless ECU is vastly improved. Dropping one of those wins would be disappointing, but also not unreasonable. Anything below 6-6 would be a disappointment.

Why does everyone assume we lose to WKU. I know it is an away game but we almost beat them last year and they will be breaking in a new QB.

Probably a product of how we played last season more than anything else (well, that and their dominance in our brief history of playing each other).
It's hard to be confident after we got boatraced in so many games and none of the wins were decisive (all wins were close while only 2 of the 7 losses were close games).
But I agree, WKU is closer to a toss up than an L. I think Williams takes a big step forward this year.

I only see 2-3 wins unless it all clicks with Williams and he morphs into Michael Vick. That schedule is brutal. I need to see big improvements at QB before I get onboard with 6 wins.

I don't think 6 wins is going to happen. I think 3 or 4 is probably a pretty good prediction. Duhart will help a ton.

Should win: UNCC, Rice, VMI
Likely win: Liberty
50/50: FIU, WKU, ECU, UNT
I'm afraid 5 wins is the most likely outcome, but the potential is certainly there for 6 or more. I think we will know early on what the team is capable of. If we start out 3-0 we should be in pretty good shape, if we end Sept 4-1 we should be in a for good season. We could very easily go winless in the month of October, but if we have 4 wins by then, we will still have a decent chance at a bowl.

The 2019 schedule is even more brutal. I think we may have over scheduled a bit, but if BW can put together some good teams we do have the opportunities to make some noise and gain some notoriety. I think when the schedule was made, the admin expected plans for our glorious new "game changer" stadium to be public and helping draw higher caliber recruits to ODU by now.

I don't have the numbers but don't we have just about the entire defense back? I know they were inconsistent but I have to believe they will be a better unit overall this season.
Offense may be just slightly better with most of the O-line back and the return of Duhart.

Pretty much. Rotimi will be a tough replacement but that's about it. Bigger issue is replacing Ray in the backfield. But I think Cox is capable and the strides the oline is making under Malone will make that easier next season.

I refuse to care about win predictions 7 months before the season starts. We were also the 175th best basketball team according to CBS.

If Jackson and/or Sinclair can develop enough to pick up at least some of Lawry's slack, that combined with Cox should mean there won't be the cataclysmic dropoff that losing Lawry would imply.
