LaSalle rumor
May be nothing, but a LaSalle basketball Facebook group is claiming that the athletic department has hired a consulting firm to look at moving to a lower conference, like the MAAC.

It's worth noting that there's been nothing reported from a reputable news agency. Just the post itself. So take it with a grain of salt. But let's not let that stop us from rank speculation.

Hard to imagine. I could see them moving to Division II or III, but not leaving the A10 if they stay in division I.

The A10 is perfect for them. I don't know why they would leave.

My guess is they’ll drop a few sports like Swimming & Diving and plow the money back into the other sports, primarily basketball.

RE: LaSalle rumor
right now, La Salle is over matched.
It won't be long before A-10 implodes
then La Salle will fit right in

RE: LaSalle rumor
If this happens and LaSalle ends up somewhere else does that open up a slot in the A10 for Old Dominion?

Normally I wouldn't think a university which has all of its sports in a G5 conference would move out of a G5 and put its sports into a non-FB conference. It has to be a special case.

BYU to the WCC so BYU can go independent and sell its football TV rights.
UConn to the BE considered because of MSG and rivalries.

With VCU, GMU and Richmond all in the A10 I could see where ODU would consider a move there, especially with the next CUSA school 6 hours away and the lack of national TV deal with CUSA.

Being an FB Indy in the east is becoming more viable with Army, UMass and Liberty all independent.

RE: LaSalle rumor
Unless they are giving up on D1 sports they should reorganize their athletic dept, figure out what they wanna prioritize and stay in the A10.

If they do leave I don't think the A10 would necessarily replace them

The A10 has a lot of schools in it now beyond the NYC to Washington corridor.

St. Louis, Dayton, Davidson, Richmond, VCU, UMass and Rhode Island.

They could probably do better in the Patriot, MAAC or NEC and save money on travel and reduce the basketball budget.

The A10 is trending toward becoming a two bid mid major league so the revenue is decreasing.

RE: LaSalle rumor
La Salle does not have the academic reputation for the Patriot league.
