RE: WKU: 2 consecutive sellouts
We had zero excuse for not having tournament in Nashville this season.....OVC went to new arena in Evansville and SEC is in St Louis for some reason.....THis was the year to have it even if SEC has womens tournament in Nashville, which they could has CUSA tournament in Nashville this season... Agreed will be even less attendance at "the Star" for this years edition....

We could even set up the women's first-round games at the huge new Convention Center, kind of like in Hot Hoops in Hot Springs

^^^THIS!

Nashville Municipal Auditorium in downtown Nashville seats 9,700.
Vanderbilt's Memorial Gym seats 14,326.
Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville seats 20,000.
Allen Arena at Lipscomb University seats 5,028 for basketball.
Curb Event Center at Belmont University seats 5,085 for basketball.

As you can see, there's lots of choices in Nashville.

That’s too convenient. Municipal gets rockin during the OVC tourney. It would be perfect. As a WKU fan, a final between MUTS and WKU there would be loud... really loud!

RE: WKU: 2 consecutive sellouts
What would it look and sound like with UTEP vs UNT? Probably about the same as Frisco if Middle and Western is playing. Just as Frisco will look and sound if UTEP or Rice vs UNT. Or about like UAB vs Middle at UAB....

Nashville would be more of a even split with a Western vs Middle but would look no different than any of the above.

I do think the odds of better crowds for the semis and championship are better playing at Nashville but it's not going to be any different than playing in TX or Virginia or any place else if two close schools are not in the championship game.

Almost as if we need a new conference with teams that give a **** about basketball. Have we had this convo before? Texas ain't the answer.

Chances are better in Nashville though. WKU, MT, UAB, Charlotte, Marshall and ODU would send fans to a title game if their team got in. Probably USM & LT too. What's the odds of having two TX teams (or even one) in the finals anyway?

Charlotte would be better for travel though

I understand that but other than Western and/or Middle it's going a to be 3k or under if neither is playing. I guess the point I was trying to make....

no matter where it's played unless a team is with in a couple hours drive the fans are going to be very limited it.

But out of every NC, Nashville has the best chance to draw the most. But to get it in Nashville it will take Middle or Western bidding on it or a combination bid. The city probably looks at it as very drivable for Western, Middle and UAB fans so not a lot of hotel rooms from those 3 schools. Unless one of the TX schools had a great season...probably less than 50 rooms each from those schools.

I like Nashville, we go there (about 2 hour drive) at least once a month, during the spring/summer. So I have no problem with it. Cost wise it's going to be expensive for those wanting to stay downtown.

Last night, even though all tickets were sold was not a capacity crowd. Students did not show up in the numbers they have in the past leaving about 700 of their 1500ish allotted seats empty. I think official attendance was in the 6,500 ballpark.

Getting that many for FIU is something. I don’t mean that bad about FIU. I’m just saying our small minded fanbase’s mentality.

If you look at our top 20 crowds since 2002, 3 of those were against FIU, so we have done it before...

Only single seats remain for the WKU vs ODU game on February 24th now as well. Should be another sellout on hand for final home game of the season.

Saturday’s game vs ODU officially sold out. The final 4 home Saturday games of the season sold out with very few tickets remaining for Thursday’s game vs Charlotte

Western's ticket office is stupid by announcing a sellout with over 1200 students seats still available. I believe with SRO Diddle will hold close to 8300 so why not keep selling tickets in the student section. It's why the last sold out game only had 6400. I'm sure more student will show up on Sr night but the ticket office should keep selling and if they don't have a seat...stand

One other thing if you are sold out the announced attendance should be the number of seats in Diddle. A lot of other schools will list SOLD tickets even if not used....for some reason Western doesn't do that.

UTEP listed 6116 for the Western game... no way is that number close
Rice listed 4246 with Capacity 5,208 the arena wasn't half full

I don't know. Students probably know student seats are still available, and if not, the school should let them know. The fact that the rest of the place is sold out, makes it a hot ticket and will probably excite the students enough to acquire the remaining seats and show up.

Impressive. As a conference, we need WKU to be an perennial contender. The program has a lot of things going for it at the moment.
