Kent State @ Central Michigan
The Flashes take the pleasant trip to Central Michigan for an afternoon affair with the Chips. CMU is 13-7 overall and 2-5 in the conference and their home record is 8-2. Kent State won the first meeting 85-69 back in January. De La Rosa and Walker combined for 50 in that game.

The Chips are 8 deep and the leading scorer is Shawn Roundtree. The 6'0 junior guard averages just under 14 points per game. Right behind him is 6'6 senior Cecil Williams who along with David DiLeo leads the team in rebounding.

Birdie opportunity for the good guys. This would be a nice road win and keep the Chips looking less and less like a top 4 finisher.

Go Flashes!

To be a factor in the conference, we have to win on the road eventually. Otherwise, we are just a home team. I will be very disappointed if we lose this opportunity to pick up the roadie. I think that we probably have to hold them to the low sixties. Good road teams play good defense.

It amazes me the amount of contact they allow when guarding De La Rosa vs. the amount they allow him when he's playing defense. Just because he's bigger the guys guarding him doesn't mean he should he held to a different standard from the refs.

Ask LeBron what he thinks about that. ]

Probably too early for scoreboard watching but a win here would put us alone in 3rd place in the MAC. Can't really start thinking about the standings though unless we figure out how to win on the road.

Wow, Akron had Ivey go for 48 in a double OT loss today. They're starting to look like a capable MAC team.

Nice win. It looks like Zabo can be counted on as a scorer which will help. When Walkers off we now have another outside option. Should help quite a bit.

This is the way it is supposed to go for Kent State. The guys had to reach deep in order to win this one. The biggest play of the game could have been the technical foul picked up by Sendy. In fact, I think he wanted it. We were 14 around that time and played better thereafter. Also, the officiating got better. Again, Walker drove me crazy and then made me want to canonize him. Great second half, particularly on defense.

Zabo has really helped turn this team around. A second outside option has really helped.

Sendy's blueprint is starting to look more like what we were used to with Christian. Bringing in JUCO players that by their second year can compete for all-Mac spots. Edwin last year now Zabo and De La Rosa this year. There's definitely some growing pains the first year but it's worth it the next year. A few weeks ago I think most of us thought we wouldn't be losing much more than role players after this year but that's no longer true. Zabo has really come around.

One comment on the Duling dunk. Crazy impressive display of athleticism... As for how he hung on the rim, I hope the coaches tell him not to change a thing. With how fast he was going if he let go sooner than he'd risk a scary fall. That type of a play should not be called a tech.

That was incompetent officiating.

Overall records are very similar, but I think we should be feeling significantly better than OU and Akron's fan base. OU is tied for dead last in the conference and Akron is just 1 game clear of that dubious feat. Just more proof that Rob and this team are doing fine.

The team is starting to look pretty good, but I'd like to see one more player, e.g Duling, Peterson, Pippen or Ridenour, really step it up and be a consistently solid contributor to go along with what we are getting from De la Rosa, Zabo, Avery and Walker.

For the Zips, I feel like this was to be expected. Not just losing KD but half that roster. I actually think they've exceeded expectations. (Or maybe the MAC is just that bad)

As for OU, a different story. He's actually underperformed in my opinion. However, they've had some catastrophic injuries which have completely derailed their seasons.

I'd also caution folks against thinking these are the glory years reincarnated simply because we had one good week last March. This is still a .500 squad with some head-scratching losses.

I agree on the Akron. This is a rebuilding year and they're shaping up to at least be competitive. They have several good looking transfers waiting in the wings for next year (as do we).

As for OU they losing Simmons as a grad transfer to Michigan really hurt them. He was their leading scorer. I wonder if he's enjoying that 8.4 mpg and 1.3 ppg he's getting this year.
