RE: Team MVP
Gary Clark -> JE obviously second
Clark's been a touch better, and we have better reserves for Evans than Clark.
JJ, CB, JC, GC, KW is stronger than JJ, JC, JE, TS and KW IMO

It's Clark. Keep in mind his running mate gets benched regularly because of lapses in defense and rebounding. Gary's reliability on the inside is irreplaceable.

RE: Team MVP
I'm waiting 'til the season is over. Clark put in that grown man's effort against Tacko Fall when nobody else could put the ball in the hole, and when everyone else was punked at Xu Evans showed up, and he won us the Mississippi State game which got our season going the right direction. I'm hoping they can will us some place special this year.

Clark.
But I think if one of the 2 were abducted by aliens we would would be in worse shape without Evans.

We're not going anywhere without both of them.

I'm going Clark, but Evans is a very, very close second.

Clark and it isn't all that close imo. Evans is still a little too inconsistent to me. You hope Evans is going to step up when you really need him, but right now you know Clark will.

RE: Team MVP
Gary "Eighth Wonder" Clark gets my vote. Agree it is not close. He has been a force on both ends of the floor consistently.

I'm a big JE III fan, but Gary Clark gets my vote for MVP. No contest. That guy should never have to pay for a beer in Cincinnati for the rest of his life.

RE: Team MVP
Crowd chanted his name several times tonight. Been a long long time since we’ve seen that.
With 6 weeks left the fanebase is finally waking up to the fact that this is a great, not just good player we’ve been treated to.

Gary Clark is our mvp, he should be aac player of the year and there is a good argument for him being a first team all american. Not sure there is another player that consistently effects the game at both ends like Clark this year..

That list of Cincy greats he joined should get him some AA cred.

RE: Team MVP
They both had damn good games last night. Evans with the sick feeds, rebounding and D(5 steals to go with his 5 assists + the five second violation he and Broome forced).
Clark put in work on both ends. It's weird with Clark, you don't look at him physically and think "this guy is going to dominate" but he's very good at what he does. I think the most telling example of that effect was when he went at Tacko Fall. Dude had nearly a foot on him and I don't know how many pounds and he just went through him. I've also come to appreciate how he's refined his game in small ways. He can do a lot more than spin and dunk in the post, his passing is better(though it was never really bad imo) and he's got a respectable jump shot.

From a scoring perspective, yeah I'd agree, but Evans is a difference maker across the board.
He has perfected the chase down block. When was the last time UC had a wing that was so disruptive defensively? He has one game with 4 blocks, two games with 3 blocks and three games with 2 blocks. He had a season high 5 steals last night and averages 1.5 per game on the season.
He has become the primary facilitator on offense. He only had one assist against ECU, but the other conference games: 6, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5.
He's the best high volume 3 point shooter we have had since...? Field Williams?
Evans is a stud.
I would love to see what he could do as the alpha dog next year but would totally understand if he heads to the league.

1st team AA is a little much, but I agree he should get some consideration for maybe 3rd team. If he increases his scoring average to around 14-15, and gets towards 10 reb avg, he might be in the 2nd team AA level.

Evans defense has been incredible. This is the best defensive team UC has had in the modern era. So much of that has the versatility on defense of Clark and Evans. I'm not sure I've ever seen a UC wing play help side defense at the level Evans is playing it. He makes huge defensive plays off his man that you don't expect a wing to make.

Evans helpside D is like a spider catching flies. It’s the best I have ever seen. He causes more strips and jump balls in the lane on drives than anyone in the game.
