wilder finds his confidence (and the free throw line) to drop 40, but misses a tough driving layup that would have tied it with 3 seconds to go. great game in kalamazoo. toledo led all night but the broncos kept battling back and nearly stole one. sets up biggest UT home game in a few years saturday against rival bg.
Im thinking 6000+ in Savage Saturday. Havent seen anything about OU's crowds except watching on TV, but is this the year that we pass them in attendance? I dont know where to find attendance averages.

Buffalo beats Ohio 73-66.
Good game Bulls. The depth is impressive.
Oh and congrats to Perkins on hitting the 1000 point mark tonight.

Ohio’s guards were up to the challenge tonight. Kirk is a great looking freshman. Ohio did a great job matching UB’s defensive intensity and speed. They’ll definitely win some more games before the year is out if they play like that.

Buffalo looking like it could be the MAC's next team to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament. They got enough beef and firepower be sweet sixteen material. Even on an off shooting nite for Buffalo they make easy work of Ohio.

Tune in tonight for the battle of I75... it will be a crowd of 6,500 or better. It's no OU crowd or even an Akron Student section but in that building.... That's a lot of loud people. Should be fun!

I wouldn't call it easy. We were only up 5 with a minute and change left.

RE: MAC Basketball Week #4 (1/22 - 1/8)
BSU wins a crazy one against Akron, their first win against the Zips since 2004. 111-106 in 2OT. Following tradition that every team has a player with a career game when they play the Cards (says something about the Cards' defensive woes, but I digress), Jimond Ivey's 48 points were crazy impressive and a Worthen record (passing Bonzi and Boykins).
Of course, since it wouldn't be this season for the Cards without more off-court woes, the Cards are now permanently down two guards after senior Jeremie Tyler was kicked off the team, following starting 2 guard Jontrell Walker being suspended indefinitely a few weeks ago. Now down to 8 scholarship players as a result. Couple that with Frances Kiapway's inexplicable season long slump after heading into his senior season as one of the most prolific 3pt shooters in BSU history, the Cards are pretty thin now in the backcourt. Fortunately a combination of Sean Sellers moving to the 2, and solid play from freshman Ish El-Amin worked out today, along with 7 solid minutes from walk-on Josh Thompson (son of BSU legend Chandler Thompson).
Good to get the much needed win... Akron is obviously thin this year, but had a lot of good efforts today.

Toledo may be playing the best basketball in the conference at the moment. I still think Buffalo has the edge in athleticism and depth but man can Toledo shoot it.
Toledo shoots over 70% in the first half and is up 24 vs. Bowling Green at the break, 54-30.

Being Bulls you guys should have a field day against BG’s matador defense. Olé!

I agree. Both buffalo and Toledo are teams that are deep talented and healthy. When you put that with great team chemistry you get good teams on a roll. Both could win the right match up in ncaas.
Ball st initially had what it takes to match that, but things haven't worked out and they are more like an average team that can beat you if you have a bad night.
Western is just thinner on talent. So much rides on wilder for success you need him and one of the inconsistent wings to both be on top of their game. Like bsu their bigs are flat footed.
Miami is an improving work in progress that's thin inside.
Kent's the only real sleeper threat to ub and ut in Cleveland

Not too many huge games today. Ball state has a chance to show they are still contenders against Toledo. Id say the biggest game is Buffalo at Kent. Kent has looked good lately and they get the Bulls on their home court. A flashes win would make the top of the conference a lot more interesting.

It would also really narrow the perceived gap between UB/Toledo and the next rung.

Miami overcomes an early 13-point deficit to win 79-64 against Akron - we held Ivey scoreless in the first half the game after he put up 48 on Ball State.
We just finished up a stretch of the MAC schedule where 6 of the first 9 were home games, now in the back half we'll only have 3 of 9 with our opponents being Toledo, UB, and OU. That Toledo game will be broadcast on CBSSN with Szczerbiak on the call so that'll be nice.

Well the foul calls against UB finally caught up with them... It was (1) part UB being in foul trouble and (1) part Kent state being fantastic from the foul line.
