MAC Basketball Week #4 (1/22 - 1/28)
Another week of MAC hoops.

Good luck to EMU tonight @UB, a very, very tough match-up.

UB leading 34-13 with 4:00 left in the first half.

They're on a 23-0 run right now.

Miami hangs on to beat CMU 70-61 in Mt. Pleasant, and with that we've already matched last year's overall and conference win totals of 11 and 4.

wilder finds his confidence (and the free throw line) to drop 40, but misses a tough driving layup that would have tied it with 3 seconds to go. great game in kalamazoo. toledo led all night but the broncos kept battling back and nearly stole one. sets up biggest UT home game in a few years saturday against rival bg.

Granted we're still early on in the MAC season, but who would've thought that if the season ended through seven games Miami would have a Cleveland bye while OU and Ball State would be playing first round road games?

Kent State vs Ball State - once again Kent State blows a late lead, going from 62-52 with 7:00 left and 68-62 with 3:00 left down to 71-71 after a Tayler Persons 3 pointer with 0:24 left. Ball State went scoreless for nearly 3 minutes in OT, letting Kent State win it 88-80

Other than UB, the rest of the MAC has been unpredictable.

This was copied from an EMU press release:

2017-18 MAC Men's Basketball Preseason Poll

East Division Predicted Order of Finish
1. Buffalo (24 first place votes) – 166 points
2. Kent State (2) – 139 points
3. Ohio (3) – 127 points
4. Akron (1) – 84 points
5. Bowling Green – 82 points
6. Miami – 32 points

West Division Predicted Order of Finish
1. Western Michigan (22 first place votes) – 169 points
2. Ball State (8) – 156 points
3. Toledo – 107 points
4. Eastern Michigan – 103 points
5. Northern Illinois – 57 points
6. Central Michigan – 38 points

2018 MAC Tournament Predicted Champion: Western Michigan (10), Buffalo (9), Ball State (5), Kent State (2), Toledo (2), Bowling Green (1), Miami (1)

***********

This was copied from ESPN's website:

Mid-American Standings
EAST CONF OVERALL
Buffalo 7-0 15-5
Miami (OH) 4-3 11-9
Kent State 4-3 10-10
Bowling Green 3-4 12-8
Akron 3-4 10-9
Ohio 2-5 9-10
WEST CONF OVERALL
Toledo 6-1 14-6
Ball State 3-4 12-8
Western Michigan 3-4 11-9
Northern Illinois 3-4 10-10
Central Michigan 2-5 13-7
Eastern Michigan 2-5 11-9

**********

As one can see, other than UB lot of mesh mash. Go figure!! Big over/under performers are Toledo and Miami (over) and WMU (under).

Im thinking 6000+ in Savage Saturday. Havent seen anything about OU's crowds except watching on TV, but is this the year that we pass them in attendance? I dont know where to find attendance averages.

i just did a quick scan, and our home average attendance through 10 games is 4,959.90.

2. Toledo (3926)
3. Ball State (3382)
4. Akron (2764)
5. Buffalo (2761)
6. Kent State (2337)

8. Central Michigan (2072)
9. Bowling Green (1875)
10. Miami (1251)

It sucks because Buffalo students are still on break and UB has played seven games at home with students on break. Attendance should go up with students returning the week.

I think the same is true for almost everyone. There were two weeks of MAC games during break. Most teams have only had 1 or maybe 2 games with students back. I think I heard that KSU’s game last Saturday at Toledo was UT’s first game with students.
