UTEP Fans Mad At UTSA.
Since everyone is doing one of these I thought to join in on the fun. It happened Saturday night but for some reason will not die down.

Link doesn't work but I'm going to assume this involves hand signs and colors.

So the UTSA announcer "made a mistake" and did not announce Kobe McGee when doing the starting line ups. Kobe is from SA and chose UTEP over UTSA. Bush league on UTSA's part. Not announcing all starting 5 players has never happened at a UTEP home game that I have been to in the last 40 years.

That's pretty crappy. Kid is probably excited about playing back home and they don't even announce him.

I think they specifically announced in a press release that there was no malice in the mistake. It was an unfortunate coincidence but not on purpose. If the kid wasn't from SA and had not chose UTEP over UTSA this would not be a story.

FIFY 03-lmfao...

Who knows if it was intentional or not, but it sure appears that way to anyone not wearing Roadrunner apparel

I just feel bad for his parents, family, and friends. As UTEP fan I’m not offended. But if I was his dad it would be a whole different story.

RE: UTEP Fans Mad At UTSA.
That's really bizarre. I wasn't there for the game, but I've been to games in the past where we hosted a school that featured a home-town kid, and they were always announced. I think one of them was a conference rival also, before we joined C-USA. I don't remember our PA announcer ever forgetting to announce anyone's name whatsoever, and I've been following UTSA Basketball since 1984.

That said, it honestly just seems like too big a coincidence to me that the first time we forget to announce someone's name, it's a San Antonio kid who chose UTEP over us. I honestly don't know whether we even recruited him, but that shouldn't matter anyway, so I can understand people being upset about it. And from the way UTEP started the game, it seems the snub also gave them some extra incentive to beat us as they held a commanding 21-5 lead at about the 12-minute mark of the first half.

Totally bush move. But funny. Like something a high school would do. But a D1 University? Butthurt is strong in SA. There’s no way in hell that it was accidental.

My understanding is that Coach Brooks Thompson was recruiting the kid, then BK stepped down, by the time Coach Henson got hired, the kid had already committed to utep... but I guess I too would find something to complain about if my school wasnt doing too good.

Actually the university nor the city of El Paso have made any complaints. Search through the El Paso Times or the UTEP athletics website and you’ll find no mention of this. The only reason I heard about it was through a write up on the San Antonio newspaper. They picked up on the story after his family and friends in attendance made posts of the incident on social media.
