In this play, the tulsa defender was still moving and moved under an offensive player in the air which is extremely dangerous and exactly why martin got hurt. If the refs had made the proper calls during the game, this probably wouldn't even happen because tulsa would be more wary of trying to take charges every time.

They blew the call both ways tonight so don't go getting pissed over the officiating. Lucky we didn't get a flagrant 1 right at half time.
If your boy Opie was still coaching here you wouldn’t make this post. You’re a hypocrite, big time.

I see you have studied Saul Alinsky very well and have his methods down pat. Accuse the other guy of being exactly what you actually are. Go troll elsewhere.

But you must get over your "Opie" obsession. He is no longer here and has nothing to do with what is going on at this time. Other than his recruit is the only thing that keeps this team from being completely non competitive.

RE: Martin Injury
The block/charge call is and has been a farce.

The idea that when a stationary defender is "bumped" by the offense, the defender falls exactly backwards while his feet remain stuck to the floor is 100% an indication the defender is intentionally faking the foul.

Davenport has been a master of the flop on defense and Martin has been incredible at the James Harden/Lebron "throw hands up in the air" when bumped on offense.

They work, but i hate both plays from a basketball viewing perspective.

Hopefully it is only a bruise. Using conventional treatments a hip pointer usually takes 2 to 4 weeks to completely heal. Do not even start treatment for 48 hours to allow all the bleeding to stop.

RE: Martin Injury
This is irrelevant of Jeremiah's injury: ""80% of what refs call as charges --- are really BLOCKS, period". I recall Boeheim saying that on XM a couple of years ago when that ill-fated crackdown was starting. I agreed but thought the percentage was too low.

FWIW, ever noticed there's never a "Let em play" screamed at officials when a charge is called or "Ticky tack" as refs love selling that call to the crowd with the punch in the air.

He tried for the contact and went horizontal.

And he was up there.

Landed on his hands and his right hip.

Doubt there is a fracture though.

There is treatment for a hip pointer that would enable him to play but some guys aren’t real receptive to it. Right, tom82? 03-shhhh

Many a Former Tiger football and basketball player of yesteryear played in the next game following a hip pointer injury thanks to that treatment by TDS!!!

He did it more than once. In the second half on a fast break Martin’s shot was called for goaltending and he turned to the crowd behind the goal and put his finger to his lips as if to say shhh. 03-shhhh

Taunting (common in pros and college) would end quickly with implementation of a zero tolerance policy by coaches and refs.

Yea it was embarrassing. Martin went from overachiever to superstar showboat in a couple of weeks , my 80 year old father made that comment .

Was especially bad since he was not even playing good. He made one basket and started taunting. I imagine Tubby will get that cleaned up. Martin is easy to root for considering he has far overachieved this year but if he continues that then he will be very easy to dislike.

Hopefully, he recovers quickly because this team needs him!

This has been Martin all year long...

It could be seen as confidence or swagger but he has moments when he seems like he is saying he is the man and that he can turn on a switch when he needs to

Martin's team is on the floor.

Do we have any updates on the injury besides Tubby saying the team and him need rest?

""They all need some rest," Tubby Smith said. "I need some rest."

Unfortunately the bad call on Martin cost us an injury and any chance at winning.

It was a horrible call, but Martin wouldve been injured even if the right call had been made.

Haven’t finished reading the rest of the thread yet but as I’m reading I’m thinking the same thing . . No matter what the refs called that wouldn’t have changed what happened to Martin.
