Dammit... that's an ugly cute dog. Do any other schools in CUSA have live animal mascots? Surely UAB has a dragon chained in a cave somewhere.

Marshall had a live bison that would be on the field during football games until the 70s. It once got loose during a game and the game was stopped until they could catch him. He was a heck of a linebacker though.

LOL!

Would be real bad if the LSU or Memphis tiger ever got loose.

USM has a live golden eagle but it's kept and cared for by the local zoo.

I've missed that somehow. When has it been on campus or at an event?

The eagle does not leave the zoo. The USM alumni Association partnered with the local zoo to get the eagle but because of what happened with USM's live eagle back in '93 we're not allowed to have one on campus.

It would be cool if your eagle was trained to fly around the stadium before games like the bald eagle that does it during the national anthem.

No lie, years ago there were alot of doves that would fly thru the stadium during games. It was common to hear "THEY COMIN IN" or 'LEAD HIM ABOUT 10 FEET"

Phi Tau’s got blamed for shooting it with pellets, which they did, but it was starved out. Poor student handling.

By that logic of keeping at the zoo, we still don’t have a real mascot. That’s like saying Alabama has a live mascot but you have to go to the zoo to see it.

Seems like They could still have a handler that took it to events.
