Santa was NOT a pro style QB nor was he better than George.

Hmmm, the data would suggest otherwise.
Santa
81-137 59.1% comp 8TD 7INt 134.4 QB Rating
George
132-275 48% comp 11TD 15INT 103.5 QB Rating

Santa had a winning % of .800; and was 1-0 against the Big10
George winning % was .100; and 1 Big10 win.

Not sure what your definition is of “Pro Style” QB, but most would say you are either pro style or dual threat. I would categorize Santa as a Pro Style as does most sites.

I'd rather have Boy George over him.

Their other QB announced he was quitting football 2 hours after George announced he was transferring. They lost 2 QBs within 2 hours. I'd say they are definitely hurting.

Lovie Smith mentioned how they were hurting at quarterback during the season. He basically threw all the quarterbacks under the bus.

Yes, I read that in the paper. He said "We don't pass much. Passing is hard for us." Yay Lovie - way to badmouth your own team. Jeez

Saw a story this afternoon - Illinois has had 15 transfers out since the end of the season. 15!

They will have almost completely turned over the roster in the span of about 24 months. I think there are only 13 original scholarship players (as opposed to walk-ons given scholarships since) left from the 2014 and 2015 classes recruited by Beckman. They played an absolute ton of freshmen last year ahead of a bunch of kids they inherited, and those inherited kids are leaving. Add in that Cubit’s interim year class wasn’t any good and they’ll have a ridiculously young roster and depth chart for the 2nd straight year.

Is that running back from DeKalb, Dre Brown, still there or did he transfer out?

Good question. I remember last season was the first time he got playing time due to serious injuries.

Yeah, he is still at Illinois. I’d think he’ll go into next year 2nd on the depth chart at RB.
