Bob,
I hate to say this, but I 100% agree with you! I was hoping that would happen last season by giving Mike Brown a chance to coach players he mostly recruited.
The players seem uninspired with Murphy. Let's finish the season with one of his assistants.
How many years does Murphy actually have left on his contract? By my account, he resigned a new 5 year after his first. Add to that 2 automatic extensions of one year each for having 20 win seasons (2013-14 and 2014-15). So total of eight years of contract and he is in his 7th year, so has next year too if I am correct.
Would an athletic department under budget constraints buyout a year, or have to play it out? Personally, I think it is reasonable to buy out. And beneficial as there will be absolutely no recruits next year for a coach on his last year of contract, hot seat, etc. seems like it would add an extra year to the rebuilding process.
Ramy,
Even if we don't buy him out, the AD could assign Murphy to an administrative position and then the AD places one of his assistants in charge.
Rest of this season?
We have a very inexperienced assistant coach staff, other than Mondro. Cline and Wooten are both 1st year ass't coaches.

Mondro is more than capable. He was the interim head coach at U-D, he would understand the situation perfectly.
