How much snow are we supposed to get?
My yahoo weather shows a 5% chance today. Five per cent and the entire city shut down?
Show could easily be done by phone.

Less tha 2 inches, but its not the snow. Its the snow being mushed by cars and turning almost immediately to ice having folks driving on sheets of it.

Even then, it seems like a whole lot of stuff closed down today when they could have just closed an hour or two early instead.

I like snow. But I'm fortunate enough not to have to drive when the roads are iffy.
And I don't have much experience as a result.

In 2014 the forecast was for little, if any, snow. Well...

I just got back from the store. Walmarts deli was closed. Looked like they never opened. Publix was putting a sign up saying closing at 5pm.

The snow was coming down pretty good but within minutes, it slowed down a lot.

I don't see any travel problems for a few hours if at all.

Nowhere near enough snow yet.

And the other thing I didn't think about was how it might affect the team travel.

I wonder if they are flying out today? IF roads become bad, its not going above freezing until Thursday.

They still put chains on tires down their. Normally buses and trucks run just fine in the snow and ice, just have to pump those brakes and watch your turns, they threw this southern boy into the snow the first weekend up here, caught two lessons pump your brakes and watch your turns that's about all they told me and this Dothan boy made it home.

RE: UAB Sportsline cancelled for tonight
I went out for 24 rounds of disc golf this afternoon. First time ever below 40.

I wore a ski mask and gloves and I was fine.

Was concerned about my feet getting cold but the wool socks kept them cozy.

As for the roads. Perfect. And very few people out. I stopped & tried to skid over a bridge and could not.

Just not enough moisture to form ice yet. And the snow had stopped when I got home.

No reason for me to use the cold weather as a reason for blowing off exercise now.
(I had been using that for a couple of weeks now)

I wouldn't be afraid to go to the store or anything tonight. Although my Publix closed at 5pm.

I can't imagine trying to sling a disc in gloves. It's hard enough to get the damn thing to go where you want it with bare hands.

As to the weather, you get caught a couple of times and you get gun-shy. I'd rather stay in and play it safe than find myself sliding through a stop sign into a ditch or traffic.

The last time I played I used half gloves and they did ok. But that was about 43 degrees. This time, I went with the full gloves. Next time, maybe one glove & one half glove because my accuracy suffered because of the gloves.
A bigger problem for me is distance. Just cannot get par on the 3 longest holes.
The heavier clothing does affect distance also.

What I like about disc golf is its just a lot less boring than walking. There is no way I will stick with walking a half hour a day 3-4 times a week. With disc golf, I can easily play a half hour or longer without getting bored. And, a nice side effect was I dropped about all my undesirable weight. 30+ pounds over 6 months. Although I've probably put back on a little in the last 2 weeks. The exercise causes me to eat less.

I played around with a longevity calculator and found out that 4-5 times a week was as good as 6-7. And 3-4 beers a week is better than none. Only problem with that is 1 turns to 6 about half the time. So I ordered some Resveratrol. Its cheaper than beer anyway.

RE: UAB Sportsline cancelled for tonight
I started playing George Ward nearly twenty years ago. No concrete tee boxes, no benches, no alternate hole placements. Trash cans were the odd 55 gallon drum here and there. The course has come a long way since Joe Thacker laid it out. I'm doing well to par the short holes... I'm not that good, just in it for the fun.

I assume that you know that there are several other courses around town now? Trussville's is pretty good, and most of the holes are shorter and tighter. Pinson's got 10 or 11 holes I think. Clay has a course as well, but I've not been there yet.

I don't play much any more. I keep putting off having surgery on my throwing side shoulder, and when I play, I pay for it for days...

You know we complain about the weather here around Bham, but one of our subsidiary companies in South St Paul Minnesota had a temperature of 39 below just a week or so ago.

That must’ve been a windchill...but yeah, that’s cold.
