The MAC is shaping up to be a very good conference this year. Buffalo listed as 18th strength of schedule leading into MAC play and will come to Kalamazoo possibly undefeated in conference play

RE: Buffalo 26th RPI
I hope we get an effort from the Broncos like the ones we received against Akron and Ball State and not one of the ones we received against Idaho and Toledo.

It's really crazy that they won quite easily against Akron, then escaped with a victory against Miami, OH aided by a great late game comeback, then give a horrible effort and get smoked in Toledo and then dominate a Ball State team that people were starting to thing was the best team in the conference. It would be nice to start consistently playing solid basketball hopefully tonight.

Is it just me, or do we seem to start every game in a massive hole and then play catch-up the rest of the way?

I was just thinking that but at least we "caught up" in the first half and are only down by 2 instead of 14.

And running an offense that finds a quality shot before the shot clock goes down to 5 seconds...

RE: Buffalo 26th RPI
Our performance against a middle of the road OOC schedule was underwhelming, so hugging the .500 mark in conference play isn’t too surprising. Feels like a “win some, lose some, get bounced out of Cleveland in the 2nd round” type of season.

We aren’t good... we have good players but we are playing like trash more often than not. Can’t make buckets when we need them... cant get offensive boards... just bad.

RE: Buffalo 26th RPI
Not a shocking result at all. Buffalo was significantly better in every facet of the game. Wilder was absolutely manhandled the whole game (not an officiating complaint). Any offense WMU got was late in the shot clock and throw up a prayer. Hitting tough shots kept us in it longer than we should have been. It was shocking the score was as close as it was for as long as it was.

Are we seeing the demise of the Hawkins dynasty here at WMU? This team is talented enough to not look this inept.... I’ve always argued that hawk led teams suck at shooting... just curious where everyone else stands. Hawk has done so much for this program it’s hard to not give him the “Izzo wait till the end of the year” pass... I just hope we turn it around...

I'm not sure who thought that.

Ball State lost at home by 20 to Buffalo.

RE: Buffalo 26th RPI
On one hand, Buffalo is very good. They look like far and away the best team in our league.

On the other hand, it’s frustrating (and not terribly surprising) that we are .500 in the MAC.

The only silver lining is that when you look at our schedule, these first 6 games were always going to be our toughest. With the exception of another UB matchup (their place), there’s plenty of opportunity to distance ourselves in the standings.

RE: Buffalo 26th RPI
Buffalo is a really, really good team. But, we have some guys (not mentioning names) that are not playing up to par for whatever reason or have been inconsistent at best. We can play better. Hopefully we can get hot for a stretch. I will say I did think depth would be a strength for this team but that is not the case. Saw that last night...Hawk went 8 deep. The guys that didn't play would not have been able to match up with Buffalo's personnel. That, I guess is a knock on the talent Hawk is bringing in depth wise. Hoping for a strong back 2/3 of the MAC season!

RE: Buffalo 26th RPI
Buffalo has chance at sweet 16 spot. That said our centers got killed last night. Can't keep up with speed and handle the ball when needed. Our best rebounders are Davis, Johnson, Wilder and Jones. I would move Johnson to center, start Jones. Lamont just can't get going this year after last years injury bug, Duggan isn't in playing shape yet.
