***Official Memphis vs UConn Game Thread*** (1/16)
Observations:
1. Roads were not too bad for my 50 mile trip to the Forum tonight.
2. The Tigers played a great game.
3. Great play by some very good players
4. Great coaching to make the turnaround we have made over the last 4 games
5. I am enjoying the season.
6. Those who can't enjoy what is going on with our basketball program right now and want to hate on our coach need to not let the door hit them in the rear end on the way out. I'm sick of all of that and wish you would get mad enough to go support some other school, because you are sure not doing the University of Memphis any good.

Yeah because running off the very few people who are not already completely apathetic is a great, genius idea.... or not.

The team is improving, no doubt about it. Should hopefully have a positive impact on recruiting, especially around here. We shall see.
One other thing. This team has become fun to watch.

And getting Harris would be ok, but he's a 5-8 shooting guard

He's not a program changer

He’s a good player and would allow Martin to play more SG. Every player doesn’t have to be a program changer. He’s the highest rated local player for 2018.

Ok. So when is Tubby gonna recruit a program changer?

Waiting

I doubt he’ll ever sign a tip 50 player. I don’t care if he does. Results on the court matter, he’s in year 2. I expect a NCAA berth next year..

I think he adds Harris. Without question we will be an NCAA tournament team next season. We will be one of the top three teams in the conference. The beauty of next season, Martin, Parks, Davenport, Brewton all will be back and improved. I’m thinking we win the conference tournament next season, considering it’s here.

I wish more fans took this approach. Nothing wrong with being frustrated by certain things--recruiting, poor play, etc.--but when the team improves and wins some games, we should all be in their corner.

Yep, and I love it! I’ve been on board since the beginning. I just loved the effort initially, now I love the way they’re playing.

I’d much rather watch this team than last years. Buh bye Lawsons!!

Damn straight. The real Tiger fans are enjoying watching one of the scrappiest bunch of kids to ever wear the uniform while the Tubby bashers are bitching that we haven't been paying off the parents of local kids.

Atta boy, GC. Cut to the chase and don’t pussyfoot around about it. Go Tigers!

WRONG yet again. But at least you are consistent. Most of your posts are head scratchers, but ALL of your posts describing or having to do with me are always wrong. What amazes me is you are smart enough to read and reply to my posts, YET you don’t have enough common sense and or ability to read and comprehend what I type out. I’ll try for you again, now pay attention......

I was never on a “Tubby Train” to begin with, which would mean I could never be “back on” his (Tubby’s) Train. Now watch this..... I was on a train called “wait and see”, then I got off that train and got on a similar train that you ride on all the time. Which was/is a “Fire Tubby Smith Train”. The difference in the one I hung out in/on and the one that your azz never gets off of is I’m able to get off that train when it no longer makes any sense to ridicule and tear down something that clearly has promise.

The reason(s) you can’t ever get off that “I Hate Tubby so much, please Fire Him Train” is because your disdain for the coach is greater than your like for Memphis Tiger basketball program. And, you are never on the “Memphis Tiger Train”.

I am fully on the “Memphis Tiger Train”. Being on the “Memphis Tiger Train” has nothing to do with loving whoever the coach is at the present time. Being on a coach’s train means you constantly are praising him. Show me where I am on here constantly praising Tubby Smith. I have said Tubby has done a great job with both Parks and Martin and he has had his team ready to play. None of those things are debatable, even for you.

I do have problems with Tubby’s recruiting. I’m hoping he fixes that. In the meantime I’m going to cheer for the Tigers and enjoy these players.

Lastly do yourself, the rest of the posters here, and me a favor... go back to ignoring my posts. If you notice, I don’t respond to your posts. 90% of the time I don’t read your posts, it is after all a big waste of my time. Bye

Agreed. Hoping our assistant who is not currently allowed to recruit will make a difference. When he is allowed to recruit.

I am very happy for you guys. It is always fun to watch Tubby's teams. I hope that you all make the dance. Unfortunately, we may not even make NIT this year.

All the best,

Go Tigers

Harris would be nice, as has been pointed out so many times though, the problem with signing JuCo's is that after next year, we lose all those guys plus Martin, that's 6 guys leaving all at once, unless some leave after this year. Of the JuCo guys, only Rhodes is not making a significant contribution from a minutes perspective.

We kinda need Rhodes' scholly back and if Tubby doesn't see Azab contributing going forward (he has no mobility), he needs to encourage him to transfer as well.

There is a lot of time to pass between then and now though, so who knows how it is going to shake out, but if we only lose Rivers after this year, there is going to have to be another rebuild for 2020.

Night and day from earlier in the year. It appears that this staff actually knows a little about coaching. I had my doubts too, but it does make sense that it would take a while for all these new guys to get used to playing D1 ball and to interacting on the court together. Really proud of the progress they are making - especially playing in mostly an empty arena.

Now - we just need some good recruiting news.

Go Tigers Go!!
