Our whipping boys this week are UCF tomorrow and ECU on Saturday. UCF could be a bit of a trap, based on our sluggish start against USF. As long as we put UCF and ECU in their place (under our heel), we could find ourselves in the top 10 again in both polls.

I'd say UCF is more than a trap. We struggled badly against them last year. Tacko really bothered Gary and Kyle.

I agree. I'm most afraid that we try to churn out a classic game of "Mickball" by moving slow, giving Tacko ample time to get in position and totally negate Clark and Washington. We need to run and let Tacko eat our dust IMO.

Agree... not sure he understands what a trap game means. If there was a trap gsme, It would have been USF.

If that happens, then either Mick came up with a bad game plan or our players failed to execute the game plan. I'm hopeful that we know better by now.

I like the short turnaround in this case; a week off and UC appeared sluggish the first ten minutes in Tampa. If Cumberland can keep dropping those threes the way he did against USF and UC pushes the pace I don't really think they'll lose to UCF. And that's no disrespect to the Knights. But by all metrics UC should still be a far better team.

My assertion that UCF is a trap game relies on 2 assumptions. Please tell me with which you disagree:

1. Definition of a trap game (UrbanDictionary): A trap game is a game played against an opponent generally deemed to be easy to defeat. As a result a person or team may not prepare as thoroughly as they would for a formidable opponent. Often this attitude and its attendant lack of preparation lead to a loss.

2. While we should definitely beat UCF on paper, we could definitely lose if we come out flat, or if we play slow and Tacko creates a bad match up.

Based on the definition of a trap game and my analysis of the match up, this could certainly be seen as a trap game. Considering that several other posters have expressed concern about needing to move quickly to counter Tacko, I don't think point #2 is unreasonable.

I always make fun of ohio state as being so lame for their nerdy emphasized refusal to say Michigan. hoping this isn't a trend.

Taylor is questionable to return tomorrow after missing two months. If he can go (and be at all productive) then it should go to the wire.

It wouldn't be unlike the Bearcats' fortunes to have a guy return from a two month layoff and drop 30 on us. But it's at least improbable. UCF is a much better team than USF but it became clear as Saturday's game rolled on that those bench minutes UC piled up in the first half helped our starters run away with the game in the second.

Our best offense is a good defense. Get stops and clean up on the defensive boards and get out in transition. We can out run taco on the break. Need to unleash JE3 and Cumberland. Both those guys should go for 20 pts if we can run
