those are the 3 1969 teams that can make claims IF they want to. that's where those of you being salty and making up t-shirts for you undefeated years are stumbling, you don't have a historical claim. ucf will be in the ncaa history books regardless of how salty you and the rest of college football are.

You are totally missing the point here. No one is salty. Geebus, get over yourself. The point is that FBS football is the only sport that the champion is not determined by the NCAA. Various other entities have been used to justify a Nattie in the past, and the ESPN/P5 cartel does it today. The best way to point out the BS of that is to do what UCF is doing now and bring up other examples in the past. Plus, c'mon, its SDSU. We own 69. In other words, "Lighten up Francis".
yeah UCF is pointing out the BS, but at least their claim is backed up by something the ncaa recognizes in this messed up system.

Exactly...we had multiple ap #1 votes (only team outside of bama). We got listed as #1 by multiple computer polls and very legit ones. Governor officially declared us as #1.

Anyway, ucf is selling national championship gear like crazy. Glad we are doing it.

RE: National Championss 1969
1969 saw Penn State complete their second consecutive season undefeated. In those days the champion was crowned before the bowl games were played. President Nixon crowned the winner of the Texas/Arkansas winner to be champion, taking the opportunity away from Penn State before the bowl games were played.

The story is quite interesting, including great RBs Lydell Mitchell and Franco Harris lobbying not to play in the Cotton bowl due to the sometimes violent racist south at the time. The Penn State players and coach Paterno agreed not to play even though it probably cost them a chance at winning the national championship.

That season, and the circumstances, is when I became a Penn State fan. The disappointment that followed many years later, with the Sandusky repeated crimes, and the cover-up, deeply hurt and I have not recovered to this day.

Anyway, here is the story --> 1969 Penn State story
