Waste Management to Pay $2000 Special Bonuses to Hourly and Other Employees
Company to Allocate US $2,000 to every North American Employee not on a Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan
Damn, this Armageddon is going to destroy us sooner than thought.
Quote:HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE: WM) announced today that, in light of the meaningful contributions of its employees and the new U.S. corporate tax structure, the company will distribute US $2,000 in 2018 to every North American employee not on a bonus or sales incentive plan; that includes hourly and other employees.
“We are about to get a tax benefit as our U.S. corporate tax rate goes from 35 percent to 21 percent. In considering how to best spend that, we wanted to find a way to help grow our economy, which in turn, will help grow our business, and give some of the tax savings back to those hardworking employees who do not get the opportunity to participate in our salaried incentive plans,” said Jim Fish, president and chief executive officer, Waste Management.
“So, we are offering each North American hourly full-time employee and salaried employee who does not participate in any sales incentive or bonus plan during 2018, a cash bonus of US $2,000 to show our appreciation to so many of our valued employees while growing our business and returning a good portion of the tax savings directly to the overall economy,” he continued.
Approximately 34,000 qualified Waste Management employees could receive this special bonus.
Waste Management, based in Houston, Texas, is the leading provider of comprehensive waste management services in North America. Through its subsidiaries, the company provides collection, transfer, recycling and resource recovery, and disposal services. It is also a leading developer, operator and owner of landfill gas-to-energy facilities in the United States. Would be nice to see my company do this. Our bonus pool was meager this year to divy up to my dept.

Good for WM. However I dropped them years ago after they decided to keep their "fuel surcharge" on my bill way after fuel prices had decreased.

I don't care your politics, everyone should be applauding this bonus. This is a rent payment for thousands of WM employees plus some groceries and gas.

This is fantastic news. I'm glad at least a few companies realize that their workers are important and are passing the savings on to the employees.
Too bad it's only a handful of companies that are doing this.
Now if the government would have simply given the tax cuts directly to the employees rather than the corporations, then everyone would benefit rather than all the corporations and a handful of their employees.

Actually, its a lot of them. But, due to the libturd butthurt it causes, we have to control the release of this information to just a handful per day.
Yesterday, one of the power companies in the north announced that rates for their customers was dropping due to the bill. Senators Fauxcahantas and Warner were interviewed about it. Fauxcahantas just babbled something meaningless as usual, and Warner stood there with a constipated look on his face.
